Sunroof

I know that a lot of older cars with electric sunroofs tend to start leaking, eventually. Since my car is now almost 10 years old, I'm starting to worry about my sunroof starting to leak. It isn't, and the seals look to be in good order, and I want to keep them that way.

So, what should I do to maintain the sunroof seals to keep them from degrading and leaking in the future?

I would assume that keeping them clean / lubed with some type of grease or something that will keep them from drying out and cracking would be the best bet =]

I don't know what you can do, however my sunroof couldn't be better and until the day my buddy sold it (a few months ago) his 93's sunroof was great as well. I think you'll be ok for a while.

Mine leaks, and I have no idea where its coming from.
I have the wind deflector on it, and how it is installed, it pushes the rubber gaskets apart, between the body and the sunroof itself. That could be the culprit, but I only notice a few droplets here and there during extremely heavy rains.

I've taken my cars to a local aftermarket installation company to have the seals replaced and sunroof aligned. Usually runs around $115. I remember I needed to have it done on my wife's Saturn and they wanted to replace it for $1100. I took it to the aftermarket company and it was $115. They do this on factory and aftermarket sunroofs.

They will also clear out the drain tubes which sometimes get clogged.

Well, I don't have the wind deflector, those things drive me nuts. >_<

The rubber is still brand-new looking. I think it'll be a long time until the gaskets and whatnot needs replacing. :)

That there has been the key on all my sunroofed cars. Every year or so, I grab a couple of honkin (technical term) pipe cleaners and swab out the drains. when these clog you end up with a puddle around the window, just waiting for you to open it or take a corner and dump it on your passenger.

Silicone spray the seals, keep the drains cleaned - you should be good.

my girlfriend's legacy wagon leaks water from the rear where the seatbelt comes out of the ceiling. I've been told it's the sunroof drain hose's fault...

where can I find info on how to clean it? I searched but maybe I'm searching for the wrong thing...
