I want to know what legend is being reborn? Anyone know?

The new 08 WRX? Maybe the SVX?

NO! THE LOYALE!!! YES!

maybe the new STi concept, to respond to the evo x?

a new legacy rally car would be a sweet revelation, but it's probably the Impreza hatchback.

The new Impreza is being shown at the NY Auto show so I'm guessing that will be the legend reborn. Subaru's confidence is nice to see.

or

B9 Tribeca STi?!?!?!?!?

I doubt there's going to be a hatchback. Everyone was all "OOOH, the 2007 SWRT car is going to be a hatchback!" It obviously isn't.

No, it most definitely will be a hatch - have you seen the spy photos? They're legit. SoJ released a statement on it too.

Anyways, it'd be cool if the RX came back

The only Legendary Subaru that deserves to be reborn is the ultra rare 22B.

Either that, or the Justy. ;)

Either that, or the Justy. ;)

The only part of that car that was really a Subaru was the tranny.

That would be awesome. ;)

And if they were going to do a hatch, then why isn't the WRC car a hatchback?

Wiscon_Mark
03-24-2007, 11:20 PM
It will be - they need to stay competitive in the WRC and hatch is the way to go. Look at how Ford and Citroen dominated in 06.

For more details, read Subiesport

Crap, that's what I forgot to pickup at the bookstore the other day. :-(

It's irritating me, I can't download the current stages of the WRC, the website is "down".

I was just gonna say that :P

It should be a SVX with a new Turbo Charged H6.... A Subaru Super car

sansMYSTi
03-26-2007, 11:25 AM
I also vote for a new SVX - it would basically be a restyled 2 door Legacy GT. I gather from the countdown that it would be a previously offered vehicle, which had not been in production for some time, so another guess may be a Justy (maybe with the 2.5 out of a Rex)

Well the Baja didn't sell well, so I don't think the brat will return. As for the Tribeca, it may be ugly, but it is a very practical decent vehicle. I may replace my wifes Outback with one in a few years for my growing family, and need to tow a trailer and boat.

I think they might be.

I like the WRX, except for the grille...to fancy car-ish. Other than that, it's a good new release.

http://www.taberwest.com/images/wrx2.jpg
http://www.taberwest.com/images/wrx4.jpg

My impressions:

+ hood scoop
+ tail light shape
- tail light coloring
- exhaust on right hand side
- front grill
- front grill
- front grill
- front bumper cut out
- square vents (subaru really needs to get a clue and put round vents in these cars, if they integrated round vents near the top of the dash it'd be so easy for gauge swap ins.

ROCKSTAR from RS25.com did these photoshops:

http://www.pmgz.net/2060.jpg

The guy has incredible skills and I think the car looks a little better now that I have seen the chops. I don't mind the look of the car. The front grill sucks, but that is an easy fix. The thing that I don't like is how small they have made it. I know it is now a better platform for rallying or whatever but it is now too small for my needs.

this thing is gross. there isn't ANYTHING i like about it.

shitty.

i'm just sure who they are targeting with this car. i understand the need for a hatch, but this WRX is just fugly...

STi has some decent chops at least.

That front end is worse than the "Goatse" front end they put on the Tribeca/Imprezas! How is that even possible?!

Is it just me, or is that blue Pleiades emblem starting to look more and more like the blue FORD oval?

I hope that's just a prototype and it'll be fixed for production cars, or a Euro spec or something (sorry, I actually like Europeans, I'm just trying to keep my head from asploding from uglieness).

As for it being a WRX, unless this is actually based on the Impreza chassis like the WRX sedan and wagon, it should be called something else entirely. It doesn't even look like an Impreza to me...

Thats exactly what I thought when I saw the rear. The grille and bumper look terrible. I'm hoping thats preproduction ugliness.

AND how the hell did he get the May issue of Motor Trend already? I've been waiting forever. Motor Trend blows. I can't wait for my subscription end.

I'm still not entirely convinced that these are real. I mean, there's been so many speculations from magazines all over about how the new STi is going to look, and I just don't think Subaru would choose to release the STi in Motor Trend before the auto show in Japan.

IL apparently got seat time in the car already and report that interior build quality has been vastly improved, as well as the overall packaging and useability of the vehicle. The wheelbase is 3.7 inches longer, while the interior width grows by 2 inches. The hatchback is 1.7 inches shorter than the current Impreza wagon, while the new sedan will actually be a whopping 4.9 inches longer than the four-door it replaces. Apparently much of that length goes into an extra large trunk.

A new double-wishbone rear suspension frees up some space in the back for more cargo, while the new front suspension is an almost direct port from the Legacy model. Base models will roll on 16-inch wheels, while the WRX makes do with 17-inchers.

Unfortunately, Subarua spent all that money on improving the quality of the Impreza's interior and messing with its design that no funds remained for upgrading the important mechanicals. Thus, all engines and transmissions will carry over with nary a change. That means the WRX model trudges on with its 2.5L turbocharged flat-four producing around 225 horsepower and transmission choices remain but a five-speed stick or four-speed auto.

Looks like a Focus with a Malibu grille. Needless to say I dont see myself putting this fiasco on my wish list...Subaru's design dept is really slipping. Maybe the next Legacy will look like a Buick Century

Wiscon_Mark

It's still a good car, I can honestly put looks down by "cushy suspension" on the list of important things.

I mean, I like a good looking car, but if Subaru continues to put out a good product, It's not a big deal.

Besides, what you guys say makes me laugh, because I remember the reactions to the last 3 revisions of the Impreza's facia...same deal, for the most part  Anyways, it's the new chassis that is supposed to be the big upgrade here, even if the car isn't making more power, it could be a big upgrade for performance.

The side profile is 95% the same as a Mazda. The Interior is a lot like a Tribeca, as well as the rear.

What a disappointment. At least Subaru hasn't ruined the Legacy or the Forrester (yet). Long live 02-05 Impreza's.

I for one LIKE the new look of the WRX. Sorry guys....but I do!

Somenoe pointed out the exhaust, good spotting and there is a reason for that. It's not on the wrong side! Well, sorta....

Basically the tailpipe does run down the correct size of the car but due to the shortening of the vehicle they still needed a place to run the final muffler, so it runs along the rear bar and then finally pops out on the same side as fuel filler.

The design does perfectly match those spy shots that came out last year, so I shouldn't be surprised. As long as they're copying Mazda, I hope a sedan will be available.
