As sad as I am to see it go, the things been good, but sadly, the clutch is beginning to slip.

It is however, a strange slip, one that i haven't experienced before.

When my first car's clutch began to slip... It'd be losing up a hill or something of the sort.
It'd also slip if i were to be hitting the brakes and stomping on the gas at the same time (not suggested but eh, it was me trying to see if the clutch was done)

ANYWAY,

This one doesn't slip up a hill, it doesn't slip in 1st, or 2nd.

It slips only in 3rd,4,5 if I decide to hit the gas hard... like full accel, and only at times.

It's been really rainy here -- like 20+ days of it.
Is it possible moisture is to blame?
What do you think?

That's how it was in my legacy. But turned out the clutch just needed adjusting (mine was a cable clutch, not hydraulic). That's also how it started in my truck.

I imagine if you gave it alot of gas in 4th gear on a hill it'd slip too. Why are you getting rid of the car when it's a clutch that's the problem?

Lol, when you factor in all these:

New brakes, new tires, new struts (cause the front ones are definatly done) ... and a new clutch...

It just doesn't seem worth while to keep the vehicle anymore.

unless the clutch can be done for less than 1000$... otherwise it's gonna get driven till the day it doesn't shift into gear anymore, then it'll get junked and i'll buy a new one...

If you decide to get rid of it, let me know. However, I don't think you should, it sounds as if the clutch just needs adjusting.

^^^ check and see if you have two hydraulic reservoirs, if not, its a matter of loosening one lock nut and another nut on the cable of your clutch.

Higher gears makes sense - the clutch is under heavier load because you have more stress on the drivetrain. That's how you test a toasted clutch.

You should definitely be able to do a new clutch for under 1000 bucks. A competent shop should do it for around 750 (including a flywheel resurface).

edit: I see you're talking about canadian dollars...I guess more like 825 would be a reasonable quote.

he has a hydro clutch guys, iirc they're self adjusting.

i swapped my clutch in 1 long day by myself w/o ever having pulled (or seen) a subaru engine before.
