Aside from doing the CAI and lightened flywheel and pullies, what other goodies are out there for the Phase 1 2.5s??? I'd like to get cams at some point, but $1100 is too much for now. Is there any performance chips or anything (besides the E-Gay shiznit) that will increase power w/o breaking the bank??? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. The car is a stock for now 98 LOB w/ 5mt.

There's really nothing else. Engines are just air pumps. You reduce the mass, you increase the momentum.
Only thing I can suggest is losing some weight out of the frame - sound deadening, lighter wheels etc.

Yea, you don't have many options beyond what you've said and motor swaps, which break the bank

Exhaust? Put an EL on it as well as a high-flow cat, and you should be good. :)

Well all the bolts ons added up (price wise) you would have around the same as cams, and would cost more. If you don't ever plan on a engine swap I would advise to get cams, then work on those bolt ons. That's what I plan on doing next time around.

What is an EL and anyone recomend a high-flow cat that wont throw codes? Also, is there a way to "chip" or reprogram the computer?
Thanks

EL header = Equal length header (TWE header, or bomz knock off on ebay) The Borla header is an un-equal length header (better sound less power). I think I-speed does a reflash and JET programming could shake a stick at your ECU. Not sure the price is worth it at first.

If you do cams, then you should get some TWE EL headers, and a Random Tech high flow cat. If you don't do cams, then you could just grab an OBX EL header off EBay and a universal high flow cat, weld the cat into the header after the collector, and install it like that.
If you do valvetrain (cams + springs), you can also increase your compression ratio with new pistons, overbore the block, and invest in a full standalone EM system, then you might want to do a full 2.5" exhaust from the block back, as opposed to a 2.25" exhaust stock. You need a lot of upgrades to need 2.5" exhaust, though.

Due to the fact I live on a Top Romin and beer budget, I'm going to be doing things in stages (ie lightweight flywheel and performance clutch when the throwout bearing goes, CAI and exhaust ASAA) cams and valvetrain are LAST on the list. I'm just looking for improvements over stock when stock parts die.

ramen budget won't give you any gains that are more satisfying than a meal that isn't ramen.
might be worth investigating http://www.deltacam.com I remember them being much much better pricing.
