Not much info on the forum regarding EBC pads/rotors... I searched and found that Roger isn't too found of them.
There's a discount on the Toronto Subaru forum for EBC Green pads and their slotted/dimples rotors.. I might jump on it since I need new rear/pads rotors and my front pads are garbage!
EBC Rotors:
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2007/03/newgolddiscs-2.jpg
-Wide aperture grooves
-Special disc alloys UNIQUE to EBC
-Dimple hole construction
-Balanced geometry
ADVANTAGES
The wider slot actually draws cool air across the pad surface keeping pads and rotors cooler. They also expel dust, dirt and hot gases better than fine slots which eventually fill with rust and scale and become ineffective in our opinion.
The blind drilled holes break down surface gases when braking from speed but do not weaken the rotor cross section as can happen with through drilling, thereby lessening the chance of rotors cracking over time and heavy use
EBC Green Stuff
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2007/03/greenpad-2.jpg
Designed for premium street driving offering better brake effect at loads and speed. EBC Greenstuff has a high initial brake effect and gives drivers confidence from first application of the brake pedal. There is no such thing as a NO DUST pad. The very nature of how a brake works requires that some dust be generated to avoid rotor vibration (shimmying). The EBC pad creates less dust and dust is more easily washed off than most. All pads create more dust as they are bedding in especially if rotors are worn. Nominal friction coefficient 0.55. For heavier faster cars and vehicles above 200bhp we strongly recommend Redstuff which DOES offer much less dust.

i had those pads for almost two years they were awesome. after 60k miles on them they still had like another 10-15 left easily. and i used drilled rotors

Yeah, I wasn't too fond of them 3 years ago - their compound may have changed since then.
I found that with 2 pot brakes and solid rotors, along with Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, my braking was noisy and very dusty. They hauled ok, but not that much better than the stock pads I had prior.
But hey, if people are getting good results now, go for it.

I wouldn't touch that stuff. I seen them up close and they seem cheap. Not sure how they perform. I'm a fan of Power slot rotors and Hawk pads.

I've heard so many glowing, and so many bad reviews, that I have a feeling that their design is good, but their quality control isn't.
WRX owners in general are very mixed on the EBC products.

The Greens are good street pads, they really weren't meant for more aggressive use, like autox and rallyx which is the perspective I was coming from.
For the price though, they are more expensive than what you're really getting, but if the group buy is good enough, it may make that point (really, my main gripe about these pads) moot.
As for the rotors...I dunno. I've never been a fan of "namebrand" OEM replacement rotors. Especially the ones that charge you up to 3x the price over a regular replacement rotor from autozone or something, just because it's namebrand. For what most people use their cars for, it's money better spent elsewhere IMO (like towards, more aggressive pads, and fluid). The slots have some use, but the dimples are really there for show - fwiw, the dimples do the same job as the slots.
On that note, I may as well say it here now, if you're thinking about Axxis Ultimates, you better ask yourself if you like brake dust or not. It gets WAAAAY more dusty than the Greens. Not important enough for me to switch back to Greens, but I know a lot of people have dusting pretty high on their list (which is probably one of the few positives about the Greens I can say).

I used Akebono pads on stock rotors, front and rear. I wouldn't recommend them for street use. They have little initial bite, but after they get warmed up, they work really well. Some fading, and I never saw any dust at all from them, even after driving hard for 3 months without washing my car at all. :p
I'm gonna go with some WRX fronts and H6 rears, and figure out what pads and rotors to use from there.

I know a lot of people here like Hawk HPS pads.. I might just end up going that route with Brembo blanks. I'm not an aggressive driver; well not anymore.. I rarely ever speed and brake quickly and I don't think I've felt too much brake fade in a while.
My main concerns really are rotor warp and dust.. I hate the feeling of a pulsating brake pedal and I replaced my rotors (OEM) with Raybestos pads a last spring and already the rotors are warping.

I been running the power slot rotors for a few years. My nephew had them in his GSX, my friend had them in his camry and is ordering them for his Maxima. No warpage at al, and the hawk pads don't throw off much dust. I had the CARBOtech bobcat brake pads before, I like them a lot but throws off WAY too much dust. Dale at Boxer4Racing said to try these out and no problems. I would also recommend Goodridge ss brake lines, takes the softness out of the pedal.

I'm kinda glad I looked in here. I'm looking at the same group buy with Rotors in mind.
I'm in a Dilly of a pickle trying to choose between the EBC rotors and Brembo Blanks. I have gotten what I think is good prices from vendors on both products - within $30 before taxes of each other on a full set.
I am running 2 month old Hawk HPS Pads up front and yesterday I ordered set of HPS for the rear. Just a matter of which rotor to run to finish it off.
Any insight? I'm leaning towards the EBC rotors because they're a bit cheaper and I wouldn't have to pay for shipping or the gas to go get them because my dad can pick them up if he goes into the office one day - I live a 1 hour drive 1 way to the vendors but noone local can touch the prices.
I have to decide soon.
Sorry Warrior, didn't mean to hijack - just in the same situation lol.

i'm running the greenstuff pads on stock rotors, all 4 corners. I love them so far. They were a bit pricey, but the hawk pads for the '95 legacies were 20 bucks more..

Theyre better than stock. Nothing amazing though.

No worries,
The power slot rotors are really amazing but the price is just way over board ($125 CAN/each).. I think a good mix would Brembo blanks with the Hawk HPS pads. If you're a street racer and really don't want to experience brake fade, I'd go with the EBC Rotors.. but if you're a casual driver and just want some decent rotors then I'd stick with the Brembo.
If you're on the TSC board, Stealth1 (Touge Tuning) can get the Blanks for $70/each front, $52/each rear which I think is a decent price.
I'm going with the Blanks and Hawk HPS Pads.

$125ea? What year Leggy are you driving? I was originally quoted the wrong rear rotor and even with the correct ones my final cost is $455 - this is including the good 'ol 14% that all us Ontario folk love to dish out to the gov't on everything we buy.
I have talked with Chris. He can get me the fronts no problem but can't get me my rears. He also said - as does everyone else I talk to - that the Brembo rears are more expensive on the BE. Best price I've been quoted for the Brembo rears on my car so far is $130 each + taxes.
Edit: Nevermind. Just saw you have a '99. Those were the rear rotors I was originally quoted and they were cheaper lol. The '99s have a 266mm dia. rotor whereas the '00-'04s have a 290mm rear rotor. Apparently they are less common and that's why they cost more

--Wrong car info--
I have run Porterfield R4S's on my daily driven talon for the last 3 years, and have nothing but good to say about them. They warm up quickly, dust is normal, and stopping power is always amazing. Driving around Boston, repeated 70mph to 0 stops are very common, and I never once felt like I was going to kiss the guy infront of me. I actually had to regulate my brakes so the guy in back of me wasn't going to drive through me.
I have no Idea if Porterfield makes pads for us, but if they do, that is who I will be getting pads from when the day comes.

More on that, what other cars/subarus use the same pads as the 2nd Gen Leg GT's?

The GC 2.5 RS's used brakes of the same size, at least on the front. They take the same pads, even though the legacy calipers appear taller--it's just a tiny bit of excess metal on the outside.

Thank you for that,
Porterfield does list front pads for the 2.5RS, they can be had for ~90$ with some hunting.

I liked the Hawk HPS when I had them on the Taurus; great initial bite and modulation. Which was important in an non-ABS, front heavy car.
Dust is similar to stock.
I wouldn't bother shelling out serious $$$ on your rear rotors. Just get OEM replacements or something, unless you really want to match the slots in the front or something.
Most of braking for cars is done by the fronts, like 75% of it. The rears are moreso to keep the rear end tracking straight and coordinated with how the front is slowing down, than actually bringing the car to a stop.

Rear brakes are there to lock the rear end up when you're going into a hairpin... Er, sorry, yes, you are essentially correct. It's more like 70% front, 30% rear.
Personally, I like more of a 50/50, but I know it's not gonna happen, but I can try. ;)
