Time for the Legacy to represent!

I'm against a list of some pretty nice cars. I'm thinking about cranking down my AGX struts. I thought about adjusting the rear swaybar, but I think I will leave it at the default 20mm setting for now.

I would get used to smooth throttle around 1st and 2nd gear... depending on the course, and when the power comes on for your setup, you may never get into third gear.

Remember - walk the course at least 3 times - and smooth in, smooth out. Smooth moves will get you consistently lower times than trying to go flat out and then having to burn up your brakes making it through a chicago box.

See if you can get an experience driver to sit with you as you drive, or sit with them on their runs. You'll get a lot from that.

Most AutoX clubs will have 2-3 people that will be available to sit with you.

The instructor at an auto-x day/school thing I went to beat the pants off my best time by 1+ sec on a short course in my car.

It was eye opening to see what they meant by "slow in, fast out"

So how'd you get on?

My best times were better not too bad. Overall very happy. The only similar class cars I noticed were a Nissan Maxima and a S4, and I bested those two by quite a bit. The S4 had a lot of power, although the way that thing was wallowing thru the cones, you could see how heavy it is. It was taking out a ton of cones.

I was about 3 seconds off from the Corvette Z06 and a STI, so not too bad.

I think I might have done better if I had properly prepped. My tires were a little flat, and I didn't get to adjust my AGX struts.

Also with my problem with spacers in the front of the car to clear the Brembos, my tires were rubbing. The horrible scraping sound hitting the underside of the fender, well I think I babied it on some corners. I had a chance to come back Sunday to actually acquire points for the season and run the Novice class, but I decided to wait until I fix my tire rubbing issue.

My fastest time was 58 seconds. I think the fastest time of the day was 49 seconds from a raced prepped Miata from the current generation of MX-5's.

I think you need to lose the spacers, roll the fenders and swap out for some stoptechs.

Or, just find wheels that fit. ;)

Yeah, stoptechs are on order, so that will fix my issue. I don't like these spacers at all.

Finally got time to edit one video. A few I forgot to shut off the cam so I I had some long vids. I couldn't find a free editor, so I just bit the bullet and bought some.

What is the green strobe in the window?

It is my Defi head up display.

It looks strange in the video. Kind of the effect when video camera's record images from a T.V. It looks like a strobe effect. In real time it is a solid image.

Where are you rubbing? Front, rear? Fender or strut? Maybe you can run a little more negative camber in the meantime?

So at the first part of the course is a couple of slaloms, followed by a long sweeper to the left. The course takes a small right past a cone, then a harder right turn. It is on that turn that I got a lot of fender rub from the left driver's side corner. After that section the other sharp turns thru the C boxes I was also rubbing on the fenders.

So by nature I backed off a bit on those sections just a little.

I have a stoptech kit coming in, but it is taking a little longer, because I requested it to painted gold to match the rear Brembo's. Once I have that in place the rubbing problem will be gone.

The Defi VSD concept, works in conjunction with the Defi Link meter.

Currently while rolling, my HUD displays MPH in digital numbers and the RPM along a bar graph along the top (similar to a S2000, but much smaller display).

When at a stop, the MPH switches back to engine RPM.

Since it is connected to the Defi link meter, the HUD can display oil temperature and exhaust temp.

The VSD is also capable of showing;

oil pressure,
fuel pressure
water temperature

However I have not added those sensors yet.
