i should just keep this to myself since it's embarassing, but maybe someone won't repeat and feel like a deushe, too.

installed my WRX brakes the other weekend. i had painted them flat black as well as purchased some speed bleeders and DOT 4 fluid. (yeah, i skimped on the SS lines....)

so i'm feeling great, having a few hiccups, but generally feeling good. start to install the speed bleeders.

so i'm getting them wrenched in and when they feel like they're in there pretty snug I notice they threads are still like 1/4" exposed. So I figure I must have got some paint in the caliper, so I probably just need to torque on through it. So I do. I get those lil' bastards seated all the way in there.

Everythings installed and looking FIIIIIINNNNNEE!!! Bleeding time!!

No matter how hard I try, no matter how much I loosen the bleeders, I can't get shit for fluid to come out. Feeling more than a little incompetent, I begin to roll to the ground in the fetal position and cry myself to sleep.

point of the thread: Don't over torque your bleeeders!!! I don't know if the threads are meant to be exposed like that, but maybe mine would've worked if I'd left them be. Instead the mass over-torquing smooshed the heads of the bleeders causing the bleeder hole to pinch shut.

So I'm out $20 and generally feeling pretty stupid.

The bleeders are kind of wierd. My dad installed them in his chevelle and I was the one at the brakes and he couldn't figure why they weren't holding fluid. He had to really crank down on his to close off the valve.
