I'm looking at a few sets of all season tires for use during spring/summer/fall. Two I have found for a decent price are Kumho ecsta ASX and Nitto nt450. Any comments on these? I've heard lots of good things about Kumho but not much about nitto. Theyre both about the same price.
Really all I need is a good tire to get my heap back and forth to school!

I hate both tires as well as Toyo personally. I'd go with Falkin or Cooper IMO.

NT450's are ok...they're all seasons mind you so you give up some in the dry grip. They were ok in the rain. Never tried them out in the snow, but reviews said they were ok - not as good as some of the better A/S's but it won't be like driving on slicks at least.

The tread pattern is more for show than anything else IMO.

If this is going to be for summer/spring/fall, why go with some summer rubber?

Kumho ecsta ASX

A buddy had one of these explode and he went for an offroad adventure :!:

Hooray, safari!

The tire company doesn't matter as much as the individual tire line does, just look at reviews on tirerack.com to help you decide. Dodik and I are both running Kuhmo Solus KH16.

I've owned kuhmo before, and they make great tires, for really good prices in my opinion!

The Fuzion HRI's are a really good price and a decent AS tread. 2 people here at work have them and they are wearing really well for them. I know first hand they are cheaper at Firestone than at OK Tire.

I ran nothing but Nitto 450 Extremes on my Mustangs for years with no complaints. Excellent traction both wet and dry, good life and good looks. Very good tire for the money IMO. I wouldn't think of using them in the snow though... honestly, I don't even consider them all season tires. There are just too many fantastic high performance snow tires for reasonable prices to justify it.

The Kumho Solus tires are good tourers... The Falken ZIEX 512 is far cheaper and much better in wet weather - more hydroplane resistant.

But it does depend on tire vs. tire, not brand vs. brand.

Well, I went with the Kumhos ASX's.

I haven't taken them off yet for the winter to check wear, but they are a good tire. Much stiffer when compared to the RE92's. Better around corners, until the weather gets cold. They hydroplane just as bad as my bald RE92's but its a bit more controllable.

you should look at the Falken Ziex 512 or 912.
