Well.. not quite a sensation, but that sentence has been over the world a couple of times, so I borrowed it... So, I'm new at forums, kind of new owning a Subaru, and ancient when it comes to worshiping Subaru! I own (of course) a Legacy 1997, unfortunately only 2,0 engine. But, I installed a couple of things, so it is a Bi Fuel Legacy now... Haven't seen none w/ gas installation on Cardomain... You can check it out on http://www.cardomain.com/ride/732524 Gotta go!
I think that link works now. It is propane/butane // petrol fueled... Sorry, dont have much time now, will post details later.

first the bad news...the link doesn't work.
When you say bi-fuel, does that mean fuel mixtures or DPFI (dual port fuel injection)?
We would love to see some pics.
We would love to see some pics.
We would love to see some pics.
(There I said it for the other people who haven't seen this thread yet  )
I didn't even know they had subarus in Croatia. That's pretty cool!
Welcome to the Site!

bad news for you mark...linky does work.
DD, can you explain the difference between what you call 'gas' and 'petrol' (those being your 2 fuels)?
We say gas over here, the British say petrol (for gas)....so I'm confused by you using both terms and meaning two different types of fuel.
Car looks great. 1 of 23, thats some low stats. Nice choice on rims. Where'd you get them from?
Welcome to the boards

Rims from an Impreza RS, sweet!
Good lookin' ride, although, I think you're a bit snobbish on the Remus, eh?
Your front bumper is ugly, IMO.

well, of course, because he fixed it...
Tris, you think his bumper is ugly? You haven't even seen it on the car yet! You must've been kidding, right?
I certainly like the car....but yeah, can you go more in depth about this fuel thingy?

He is running LPG and petrol (gas) I think that you would have LPG in the USA We use it here in NZ in cars as well problem is that it shrinks gaskets and when you change over to petrol you can end up with nasty fires !!! we use CNG as well (compressed natural gas) LPG = liquid petrolium gas. most conversions are done on N/A engines we have deisel busses running on it too.

Well, well...
Let us first make some things clear.
I live in Croatia, and English is my second language that I learned way back in school, so I beg your pardon for not making myself absolutely clear sometimes.
About my Bi fuel thing:
GAS= LPG (liquid petroleum gas)
"The state of matter distinguished from the solid and liquid states by relatively low density and viscosity, relatively great expansion and contraction with changes in pressure and temperature, the ability to diffuse readily, and the spontaneous tendency to become distributed uniformly throughout any container".
In my case, propane/butane.
Petrol is just petrol. At least in my case.
I also think that those rims are very nice choice. I didn't want to exaggerate, so I found a guy who bought himself new set of 17" rims, and sold me his used ones...
And Tris...what should I say...?
Remus came with the car when I bought it. You could understand my enthusiasm about it if you knew what I was driving before. It's a Wartburg 1000 Touring, MY1980. You surely have never seen it, nor you will... No power windows, no power steering wheel...in fact no power at all. 1000 ccm, around 40 HP, only 3 cylinders, 4 gears...Try to locate a pic or two on the net, you'll see what I mean.
Snobbish, you say? I don't think so... Happy is more of the word for it...
Ugly front bumper? Well, you just told everybody with STOCK '97 Legacy front bumper that their bumper is UGLY too... Bumper you saw is STOCK, the one I'm wowrking on is not done yet. What would be the point of one making THE SAME bumper all over again, spending hours of work and a bit of money, too...?!?
No hard feelings, Tris...

So you are running on LPG up there, too? How are he prices? You say something about engine backfire? It usually happens if sparks are ruined... LPG requires better quality sparks... I'm trying to find quality sparks myself these days...

Best sparks we have around are the NGK V-Power copper plugs. Still have four times the conductivity of the platinum ones...only problem is, they don't last quite as long. Not like its a huge expense though.
Tristan, I don't know what the hell you were thinking, man. Just take it back and alls well
So your "gas" is propane/butane and petrol is refined crude oil like most of us use? Is that how I'm understanding it?
ddctd2AWD
07-12-2005, 10:28 AM
By factory specifications, sparks that are recommended are NGK BKR 6 E11. I'll just ask salesman if there are any of those you recommend. Considering I live in Croatia, it's kind of hard to get what you want... Offer is sometimes very limited, prices are high, paychecks low... Damn.
Yup! Finally I managed to say what I wanted about LPG! You got it now.

I dunno what everyone else is all up in arms about, but here's the picture in question:

Now, is this like The Emperor's New Clothes, or something? I don't see this homemade bumper of yours. I demand visual satisfaction. Now.
You better listen to me, too. I'm serious, I'm AMERICAN.
Yeah, that's right.

If you look on some of the latter pages (pg 5), Tristan, you'll see that its being fabricated...there's no bumper as far as I can tell on the above picture.
I know you don't like Cardomain but give it another look.

Yeah, that's right.
Hey, man, why are you picking up on me? Damn, I joined SLI today and am already being picked upon for no reason whatsoever... If you are only kidding, messing around, or whatever the expression in English is, than I am really sorry, I deeply apologise for what I am about to write, and I take it all back. And if administrators (please give me some feedback) think I am not just fairly standing up for myself, but am offending other respective members of SLI, I am willing to leave SLI. That is just sad...
So, hoping you just have sense of humor I unfortunately did not understand, you should:
-not think that people from countrties devastated by recent war (read: poor) -and that is me- should LISTEN to you just because you are an American. No disrespect to US, but I am Croatian...and so what?
-learn to read text below photos, in which case you could see what Mark did, and what he posted as reply to you. Dont haste, dont judge people when you are not fully aware of the situation...
Once again, if I am wrong, i apologise. I dont want bad blood. Had enough of it during the war in 1990ies...
Hey, REASON, you being administrator and the man who invited me to SLI through Cardomain...word of advise, please? What do we do now?

ignore tristan. hes being a bitch. I think he is kidding but still, uncalled-for.
personally, I give you mad props for doing your own 'glass. Ive had naught but disaster working with the stuff myself. Takes some knowhow, and from what I see, your pretty good. I would have never been able to make that dash insert, even though you make it look easy. Dont worry about people who want to be punks on forums because they arent talking to your face.

I'll speak on behalf of Reason (knowing how 'reason'able he is) and he'll tell you to stand up for what you got going on. You're fine. You're Croatian...be Proud! I'm proud that I'm American (regardless of currect world relations). There is nothing wrong with your nationality.
As far as Tris grindin' on your bumper, he jests a lot, so take it lightly. And even if he did mean harm....its on the internet (meaning he can't physically harm you) and he seems to be the only 1 out of 200+ to be giving you supposed grief. Worry not. Besides, it seems its just getting lost in translation.
As far as what you do with your ride, thats your personal preference. It is YOUR ride, do as you please. Be forewarned: when you ask for opinions, you'll get them, but take them as that: opinions. But I mean kudos to you for fabricating (or modding) your own bumper....not many can lay claim to that!
You got nothing to worry about until you start pissing off everyone with blatent blanket harassing comments..which you haven't even come close.
Enjoy the site and the Legacy crowd.

Well said Gator GT! Sorry it took me so long to get here. I'm pretty sure Tris was busting your balls, but all in all he doesn't know you and should chill out. This is said for any other member that has something negative to say about another member. If you don't have anything good to say don't say anything at all. As proud to be an American like Tris that means squat here. This is Subaru Legacy INTERNATIONAL. Tris, you are a bad boy, I plan on sending Mark to where you are and spank you.

Hey dude :D Dont worry about that lot they are just having some fun, It did seem like you were being singled out but they did not meen to upset you. every one here seems to get on well and are not ass holes.
Welcome aboard any way you have a better understanding of english than I do  No one has taken the piss out of me yet but I am waiting for it !!
And yes we have LPG and CNG here ... as for price CNG was about half the cost of petrol and LPG about 75% but have not seen the prices lately.
I used to be an installer for both of them and it was not so much back fire we have a problem with it was the fact that when running on gas for a long period of time the gaskets would dry out and shrink then when you changed back over to petrol it tended to seap out of the inlet and cause fires. = bad kama.
have not had any thing to do with fitting for some time but we all ways had to up grade the coil packs to get a nice killer spark going on.
Pete.

Hey guys, thanks for being supportive. I couldn't agree with you more! As for SLI being INTERNATIONAL, I certainly WILL do my best to represent my nation. In fact, not to babble on nationally- I will represent ME!

War torn country or not, you're all about your car, and. . . I forgot where i was going with that. Point being, you're cool by me, mmkay? There's no "bad blood", ahahah! You're awesome. :D
I still haven't figured out why you folks got all pissy.
Oh, and if you send Mark to spank me, he better bring his hot sister(exist?), or hot mom. I don't do daddies. I also require a warm bottle and a hug afterward. A soft blankie will earn you brownie points, too.

As for Croatian eye candy (tnx for teaching me new figure of speech :P ) go to the net and search for SEVERINA VUCKOVIC... She is Cro hottest singer, and the one who has strongly defended her so-called virginity, nothing before marriage etc... And then, one day, Croatian ISPs crashed. Whole day. And the day after. Why? Everybody with computer was on-line, downloading. Download movie, check it out, let me know what you think...

Croatian city? Capital is Zagreb, it has population of 1,000.000 and has pretty much cool things to see and to go to. Only thing is that there is no Subaru meetings here... too bad.
Hmmm, can you hook me up with a place to stay for a week?

I could probably find something... But if I were you I wouldnt come until summer. Back in the days I was single, beach parties were something to remember (or at least judging from the consequences the next morning :) ), and from what my single friends have to say- they are even better now!!! And from what I can see from foreigh magasines, everyone agrees that croatian coast is one of the most beautiful in the world...
