Okay, I did a grounding mod back on the 7th and I finally got pictures of it recently...

This section has since been tightened and soldered and will be mounted permanently when I get my manifold cover.

I used 10 guage wiring
Connections are as follows:
1 to Drivers Strut
1 to Passenger Strut
1 to Alternator
1 to Intake Manifold
1 to Radiator
2 to Body
2 to Engine Block
2 to Battery

I also sanded down all of the connections so I was getting excellent metal to metal connections and degreased and cleaned the screws. To make sure it didn't rust, I sealed it with a silicone spray. The connections are just as important as the wiring.

Not that it makes a great deal of a difference, but Red colour wire is generally the positive (+) side, and Black is usually the Negative (-) side, although Green can be used to designate a ground connection. I gather you just grabbed what ever wire you had available.

The big factor in these grounding modifcation/improvements is the quality of the electrical connections, the colour of the insultion doesn't impact this at all.

I bought ten guage wire in bulk (50ft). You don't really need 50 feet worth, but I wasted a lot of wire experimenting, and I also doubled some stuff up. As for the insulation color....its STi Pink! :D

Hey Mark, I just picked up some wiring. I think we shop at the same place. I picked up 20ft of STi pink 6awg wire for $4. Bought it at lowes, would have gone for green, but they didn't have a hunter green like my car, so I went for the STi treatment. I might have to get my friend with a CNC to make a custom wire collector.

I shopped at Fleet Farm (midwest hardware chain, pretty big one too). We don't have a Lowes near us, but they probably have the same supplier. STi pink is the way to go :smt023 :D

Jesus, do you ever sleep, or just work on your car

Nice work, although you should have gotten some shrink tube stuff for the ends.

this was done on the 7th of July, Lee ;)

but I lose sleep for two reasons:

working on my car
and thinking about working on my car

Yeah, if I'd have thought of the shrink stuff, I would've done it...think its still a good idea? And if so, where can I get it?

Oh, and it looks like this now:

Got rid of the only really ugly part, the bolt :D

But my big question is - what is your voltage level now, and is it stable?

I don't have a voltometer to try testing it with, but the headlights don't dim when I turn stuff (like A/C) on, so I'd assume its more stable than before. I also got better mileage (by like a mpg) which could be related, but probably is a combination of other things...
