My favorite part is when they show the nissan murano. Just goes to prove that SUV's are no longer being made for off road purposes any longer.

I've seen that before, the way the volvo spins out of control on the wet lane change course is hilarious. The worthlessness of the AWD on the competitor vehicles in the incline test is startling.

I think Subaru should seriously incorporate some of this type of footage into their commercials, maybe open some eyes.

I'd be assuming they were using only automatics (or VCD for the Mitsu Murano). Using a manual would be totally different, you'd see a lot more wheel spin and stuff like that, especially from the Volvos (which aren't even available in a manual, last I checked).

I would have liked it more if they hadn't used the Outback with the VCD, and had used an Outback wagon with a 2.5 liter NA motor and a regular auto or even 5 speed.

The Volvo had a lot of oversteer, that's for sure. They should use it as a rally car... :razz:

I'd like subaru to hold sales events like this for regular folks, so that _I_ could test them against the competition :)
As for a video - there are just too many unknows in these tests to do any conculsive comparisons. Its like that Audi ad, where it went up the ski jump tracks, you never know for sure what exactly did they do to get the result in the video :)

The Honda AWD is truly crap. Its completely intrusive. If you turn the wheel too much and give it too much power then it cuts the fuel. If you need to sacrifice control in order to keep the vehicle on 4 wheels then maybe you need to reevaluate the design

RadeOn, I remember that particular commerrcial you mentioned and I specifically remember the fine print on the bottom mentioning rally spike tires. Dont ask how I remember that. I can barely remember what I had for dinner.

Yes it had spiked tires, and was filmed with the people at top gear, however, it still made it up an incredible incline, and spiked tires are not going to save the car's abilities.

Does anyone know if the Highlander uses the same AWD system as the RAV4? I'm going to use this video to aid my argument against my parents not buying a Subaru.

I too love propaganda videos. Would be cool to see some real tests as well! The wet course ones were cool tho.
