It's not bent real bad - in fact at 70mph I can't even tell because it's on the rear and I have snows on it. Not really worried about it TBH.

Waiting for temps to stay above 50 for a week before the 17s go on... and then I'll have to repaint the brakes blah blah.

They are actually - it's not a bad bend, I honestly couldn't notice it but I barely travel faster than 65mph with the snow tires on anyway. If you have any spare rims kicking around though, let me know.
I'd love to get my hands on some black door exterior strips though, the bump strips, would be great!

Started the brake lines tonight, got them all installed but my rear parking brakes are seized so have to let the adjuster nut soak in pb blaster.

I hit a roadblock at about 11.30pm last night - the rear brake shoes are frozen to the rotor, the handbrake release won't let them back off, so I have to try adjusting them at the back of the rotor. More soaking today with PB blaster. Too hot to work in the garage today, it's like 100F in there.

Haha. Not everyone has been around for 10+ years, Huffer. :) Good pictures though. Are those already on? If so, do you feel the difference lightly or significantly?

LOL. Brakes aren't on yet - but I suspect the 60-0 will be greatly improved as I will have the complete brake setup (plus stainless lines) from the 04 Legacy GT. The only thing I am worried about is the weight. The 04 is heavier overall because of the bigger brake rotors and the caliper brackets. The calipers themselves aren't much larger, but the bracket allows the bigger rotor (11.4") to be used (stock rotor size on the 98 GT is 10.7"). It's very tough to find the caliper bracket on it's own, so I've been waiting on my 98 brakes to give up before upgrading in size.

I'll be running Stoptech pads in front and Hawk HPS on the drilled rear rotors.

I had actually already done that on a prior upgrade. I have the bigger "H6" rear rotors and matching caliper on there now. Just have to bust out the wire wheel to remove some rust from inside the rotor. Start putting the car back together this weekend!

There's really no physical change (major) that the 04 brakes have over the 98 - except that the caliper has heat fins molded into it - the major change is the actual caliper bracket which allows the use of bigger rotors for more heat dissipation on heavy braking. This translates into less brake fade.

Not really sure to be honest. But I think it goes something like this:

04 LGT Brake calipers and brackets - front - $180 shipped (new)
Front Pads - Stoptech Street (included with calipers)

04 LGT Brake calipers & brackets - rear - $160 shipped (new)
Rear pads - Hawk HPS $60 shipped

Brakelines - Techna fit - 1998 Subaru Legacy fitment - $100 shipped (new)
TOTAL$ 440

I could have easily forgone the brake lines, and gone with new stock lines for about $50 less. But I figured it would be worth it and it was supporting a site vendor.

The rear rotors were from a friend locally, and the rear calipers were from rockauto.com. Rear pads were picked up locally - Hawk have a local facility here. Front rotors, pads and calipers were all ordered from rockauto.com

This is a repost from a SS brake lines thread:
Ok so in case anyone else runs into this issue - when you order up stainless lines, or any kind of replacement line, you HAVE to make sure you order the lines appropriate for the vehicle - not the brake calipers.

With my recent brake upgrades, the 04 LGT calipers don't 100% match my older 98 LGT calipers. This is OKAY. The big difference is that on the BACK of the caliper, where the banjo brake fitting bolts on, there are some "alignment" tabs. These are not compulsory to use, and if you have done a lines + caliper upgrade like myself then you will likely NOT be able to use the alignment tabs anyway.

In the picture below, in the upper left corner you can see the brake line alignment tabs where the banjo bolt is.

All you need to do to make sure you brake line fits flush with the caliper is to:
a) grind the alignment tabs off - you only need to cut away a small portion
b) rotate the banjo so that the brake line goes through the slots or avoids them altogether.

I discovered the reason for my slow brake fluid leak was I had bolted down the brake line and because the REAR line has a little bend right before the banjo, it was contacting the brake alignment tab. I rotated the bolt and cinched it down. Hopefully it's all good now.

Accident on rt 6
Time: approx 3.20pm

Where: outside McDonald's east of cherry ave.

I was at a complete stop as traffic was backed up to the exit driveway of the McDs, and there was traffic attempting to turn from the middle lane so I was stopped between the entry and exit driveways to allow them to turn in front and behind me.

I heard a screeching sound, looked up and saw the front of the vehicle behind me slam into my car. I didn't have time to move the vehicle out of the way.

My head hit the headrest of my seat at least once and the back glass shattered. The coin tray in my dash slammed open and scattered loose change around the cabin.

I was dizzy and disorientated, I looked around the car and checked my knees and feet. I exited the car and walked to the back, there was glass all over the hood of the Kia SUV. A young male who looked about 17-18 exited and asked if I was ok. I told him I wasn't sure and that I was calling the police.

I called 911 and informed them of the accident and my location, they transfered me to Chardon PD. A sheriff showed up onsite and got us moved into the McDs parking lot.

Before we moved our cars, the young male asked me again if I was ok, and said "man, I am so sorry. I didn't see you, I was looking the other way".

Chardon PD and fire and paramedics arrived shortly thereafter and transported me to hospital. They said they would have my vehicle towed and gave me a slip of paper with the report number and the Chardon PD phone number.

Thanks everyone. I am pretty sure they will total the car. It being 14 yrs old and a frame twist it'll cost more than the vehicle is worth to bring it back to life.

If they total it, I'm hoping I can get $4500 for it and get the wreck towed to my house, so I can strip the good parts off it and sell them to raise some cash for a new vehicle.

I will likely not be in a Subaru for awhile - wife wants/needs a Honda Odyssey, and she has a perfectly decent 03 Accord that I will likely end up driving. Eventually I'll get back into a wagon.

Been a rough week!

And next week I have to show up in court for a previous (and unrelated) speeding ticket.

Insurance companies are garbage (I'm sure you already knew that...) With mine, it took me over 6 months for me to get my car even looked at! Since then, I've learned you need to call those f*****s every single day (or more if you can) and let them know you want your s**t fixed. Be a pain in their ass and they'll move faster...

To all those people PMing me about parts... please don't. And I'm not doing a dibs thing either. If/when I have more information or parts to sell, I will start a FS thread and list everything there. You will all have the same opportunity as every other board member to buy an item or as many as you want at that point. That's the only way I can be fair to everyone in my SL-i family.

In other related news, the teenager had Progressive as his insurance company. They contacted me today and will be paying my deductible, compensating 80% of my time off work, plus up to $2000 in related medical expenses outside of my insurers coverage. This is pretty decent I think - I haven't signed anything that waives my rights to sue if I need to later.
So, provided that Nationwide give me an appropriate payout amount + let me buy back the car so I can sell off some parts = buying the minivan for Mrs Huffer a lot easier.

The other driver was obviously at fault, so his insurance should be paying for everything...that's at least the way it works in this state...then again, I never viewed Ohio as the land of common sense when it came to driving laws. That's the way auto insurance SHOULD work, yes. You're forgetting that insurance companies want nothing to do with any money that needs to be paid. Many insurance companies are going toward "No-Fault" policies which screw the shit out of any driver that gets in an accident. At-fault or not... This ensures that the at-fault insurance company doesn't have to pay for both driver's issues. It's an absolutely pathetic idea which I've always disagreed with. However, is there anything anyone can do about it? Nope. No-Fault policies screw anyone involved and get the insurance company much mo' monies. Imagine that. :(

You should be able to get the chassis for relatively cheap. My guess is 1000-1500 at the absolute most. My buddy bought his stage three jetta back after it was stolen and crashed into a ditch. Only cost him 800 and it was an 03

Keep the face strong! They'll try to get you to settle for KBB price of a "standard" LGT of that year. If the accident wasn't your fault and you have the proof of the work and money involved, they'll definitely give you more. It took me aroudn 2.5 years to get all the money out of my accident. Mine was a hit-n-run in a parking lot, though. Not me, someone smashed my car in a parking lot and took off. Luckily, someone else saw it happen and got the plate number. Only 2.5 years to get 65% of what I had into the car though! F***ing thieves... Just make sure you stay on top of it.

Good news! Nationwide is prepared to offer me $5086.23 as total loss on the vehicle, but if I can show receipts for recent parts they will up the value slightly. They graded my vehicle at the "Dealership" level, and they said that my vehicle would have been worth $5300 on a lot, so minus some tax and we get $5086.23.

For the buy-back-wreck option, I will only lose $300 so I am thinking I will go that route, and part out the wreck. The $4700 that we get will go a long way to getting that Odyssey for Mrs Huffer.

And don't worry - Huffer's not going anywhere.
