oh and one SCARY video from the event. The driver hit his head on the steering wheel and went unconscious.

yeah there was an article in the most recent edition of SubieSport mag about these sand beasts with Subaru engines.

Just saw that article yesterday. I'm so glad I didn't see it before I sold my Beetle. I REALLY don't have the time to add that to my list of projects. :-D

if that second one hadn't have been there....it could've been really scary. Did he move there intentionally? That was pretty bad, and why I'll never drive when I'm tired.

No, if you notice, when he comes down, he comes flying forward (his belt straps weren't tight enough) so his head slams into the steering wheel. At which point he was completely knocked out. Since he was flooring it up the obstacle, his foot was still on the gas when he got knocked out.
Its a good thing they decided to put the crawlers that were up next so close to the obstacle.
