Stainless Steel Clutch line

Techna-Fit makes good stainless steel clutch lines apparently.. there's a group buy on TSC and I would like to get one! The only problem is, they don't list one for the Legacy :cry:

BUT! They do have a listing for:

1998-2004 2.5 RS
2002-2005 WRX
2002-2005 STI
5/97-2004 ALL FORESTER

I'm wondering if one of those applications will fit a '99 Legacy GT. I'm thinking the 2.5 RS will.. can someone confirm so I can get a set?

You need to check what style of clutch setup you have.

If there is a hard line going from the clutch master cylinder to just below the pitch stop mount then a rubber line from there to the slave cylinder, you can use a 2.5RS line.

If there is a rubber line from the master cylinder down to the side of the transmission (this is the damper) then another rubber line up to the slave cylinder, you can replace both lines and the damper with a 12" hose with 10mm banjo bolts on both ends directly from the master cylinder to the slave.

Apparently SS lines don't do much as there isn't nearly the pressure that the brake lines see. More of a bling mod then anything.

I have fitted SS clutch lines on both my Legacy and my wife's Impreza. In both cases there was a definite improvement in pedal feel. The pressures involved are definitely less than those is brake lines, but I wouldn't go as far as to say that the mod doesn't serve any useful purpose.

Maybe you can point us to some part numbers that you used? I heard someone had one custom made. Awhile ago I looked to see if the STI SS clutch line would work, and it seems that part doesn't fit.

I have one from an RS. I'll be putting it on during the summer. I highly doubt that there will be any fitment issues but I'll post it up if there is *knocks on wood*

It depends on what kind of setup you have, which transmission are you running with the swap?

I have the JDM 6 speed in my car now.

I did read your post about the custom line. I guess I have no clue on where to look in my area for such a shop. I will get around to this sooner or later.

how old was the clutch line u replaced?
