Anyone here changed one, are there any tricks?

I have one on the way and it looks fairly simple, just want to see if there are any tricky steps which I can get a heads up on.

5 spd or automatic? If 5 speed, stick in it 5th gear, parking brake on, and then have someone pump the brakes up and hold them while you take a 4 foot cheater bar and torque that sum b**** off.

There's a way to lock up the pressure plate for auto tranny cars, but I don't know it.

The first time I did mine I had to do the starter blip method, which is recommended often and then there are always a handful of naysayers. That trick is to put a cheater bar on, have it resting against the ground (on the driver's side), disconnect the coil pack and just blip the starter ever so slightly and it'll bust the bolt loose. I only did this once when the other methods didn't work, and since then I've used the conventional method.

The swap takes all of 20 minutes taking your time.

I was only worried that I'd have to disconnect the rad hoses for some reason (clearance maybe). I didn't figure I did, but I thought that I read somewhere that someone else did.

I guess I can just run to Home Depot and pick up a piece of something for the cheater bar. - Just so I'm clear this is to slide over the handle of my wrench to give me more torque right?

I have a proper torque wrench to torque it down.

You can slide the end of a jack handle over the breaker bar - that works well as a cheater bar.

Yep. I used a breaker bar and a handle from my jack. I had to remove my fans, though I've seen it done without removing them. It's only 3 bolts and an electrical connector (just remember to reconnect it).

Good to hear. And I have a torque wrench, finally get to use it for something other than lugs lol.
