We really do get shafted here in the US. Look at this redline for the JDM legacy's:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-Suba ... 4620QQrdZ1 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-Subaru-Legacy-BD5-Sedan-Gauge-Cluster_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ42612QQihZ001QQitemZ110123394620QQrdZ1)

Mine starts and cuts out at exactly 6,000.

DAMN!!

that's 1000 more than the US.. how shitty for us :(

I bet you that's the TT motor maybe? My cluster which is in KM as well only goes to 180km..

Edit: Never mind, it's the EJ20.. hmm..

It ought to be the TT motor, did the legacy ever get the regular turbo motor in that era?

Yep. Single turbos were common.

My NA Impreza 2.0 redlined at 6,250rpm.

Is this a direct swap for a BD cluster?

Is this a direct swap for a BD cluster?

Probably, but it won't do crap for your redline. That's ECU limited.

Has anyone heard of this swap being done before --- my searches have yielded no results.

it does, it just sucks that it's so hard to determine sometimes. :(

Haha... 7,500 metric revolutions a minute! I'm so f'ing pimp, my car displays it's tachometer in radiians! I redline at 955 radians a minute biatches.

Anyway, I'm sure it'd swap over. But there are no mph indicators anywhere on there. One question while we're on the subject of these dash swaps, would a dash cover like this from a WRX work on our cars?

this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/02-04-SUBARU-IMPREZA-WRX-2-POD-DASHBOARD-GAUGE-FRAME_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ46100QQihZ007QQitemZ170108187213QQrdZ1)

It doesn't look deep enough, but I'm just thinking about oil pressure gauge and I'm not sure what else for the other (down the road)

not without some dremel work...

If you can find a RHD USDM, UKDM, or OZDM Legacy, the TT swap would be doable, but for a LHD USDM car, forget it.

2 liter motor = has to rev higher to make the same power. And, being shafted? There are some 2 liter race motors revving to 11,000 rpm consistantly.

damn, i just had an idea.

since on most vehicles you can recalibrate for different tires and such, why couldn't you trick the PCM in the same way, only you produce the MPH instead of KPH? it seems really round-about, but it's a thought.
