Well, I always wondered why my car wouldn't accelerate to redline when I had the gas pedal mashed. Heres my quick writeup on how I solved this problem

1) open drivers door
2) remove thick winter floor mats
3) ?
4) profit

:lol: the car definitely has a bit more go when I have the pedal mashed. Thats probably an extra inch of pedal travel!

It's gotta have something to do with how you get in the vehicle. I had that problem with my BD, and have it with the truck now...only it's better than I don't get the pedal all the way down in the truck. :roll:

You step in with one foot at a time. Don't do a double foot dive to get into your car. I know we all have Legacy's and can't wait to drive them, just be patient.

My mat doesn't slide, I have it hooked to the floor, Just the winter mats are so thick and large that they get in the way

I have to hook in my 02 GT and I am constintaly putting the mat back on the hook. I hate it

once I had the legacy at the shop and immediately upon receiving it back, i had trouble shifting into gears. I brought it back immediately and the shop technician said, "oh it's just getting stuck on your mat". I was in disbelief but I didn't argue with him because I didn't have any other ideas.

I drive it home and next morning I go to start the car and I can't shift it into any gears. Turns out the clutch FUSED to the flywheel. Thus began my dissapointment with SPEC clutches...

The problem doesn't have anything to do with doing a double footed jump into the car. I know we're enthusiast here but it's not the Dukes of Hazard!:lol:

When you step your right foot into the floor pan area and then swing your ass into the car, you push off with your right foot to sit down, this is what causes the mat to slide up under the pedals.

Then as you drive and begin to slouch, and try to readjust and slide your butt back into the correct position on the seat, you also push off with your feet and cause the mat to slide up.

My '07 has one of those little clips that the floor mat attaches to. I love it, the mats never slide around. My Outback doesn't have the clips and those mats slide all over the place.

My GT doesn't have the clips and the mats don't move at all. Then again, I have mats designed to fit a 2000+ Legacy, in a 1998 Legacy, so they come up a little short...

i had that happen to me right after i got the car, the old owner didnt know what happened to the old mat so he got a new one. after driving the car the first few days i noticed the gas felt spongy and that the clutch wasnt going in very far, looked and found the old mat stuck up under the pedals.........took it out and found out that my new suby wasnt such a dud.....to bad my gas has since suffered lol
