How many mm spacers would be needed to clear 4 pots with the 98 BD-GT rims?
Any help would be appreciated.

I would never use spacers. I'd get bigger wheels. You'll need at least 17x7 in ET45 for conventional clearance, or a set of RS rims in 16x7 ET55 if you're using the earlier JDM 4pot brakes.
The WRX TR 4 pots won't work IIRC w/ RS wheels.

IIRC the 06 wrx 4pots have less clearance issues because the "subaru" logo is just painted on, not casted on like the older brakes.

They look casted in person...maybe just thick paint?

Perhaps I have my info backwards!
Hi,
I have a MY99 Legacy (BH) with the WRX brakes. I currently use the 16" stock rims with 20mm spacers.
I'm going to replace the wheels by 17" rims because I feel the brake force on the steering wheel.
So my recommendation is: if (WRX_brakes) then WRX_rims;
Note: on the left you see my "winter setup": 16" Impreza GT rims. These rims fit also without spacers and work fine, too.
