The injen intake on boxer4 is made for a MAP intake car, you have a MAF intake...

So what U R saying is that i cant put the injen intake on this car.

Also i saw the injen intake on my engine on cardomain, so can it be done.

it can be done. You'll just have to hack up the injen tube to fit behind your MAF, and get an adapter plate for the cone filter.

Just get an Ebay intake, same gains but $100 cheaper.

You should just make one.. you can get an ebay special with a filter for like $50.. and they are just as good, if not better than the injen (better because it doesnt cost $150). Check out the DIY forum for more info!

Injen do make the intake to fit MAF applications. Some people need to search a little harder.

There are two part numbers for Injen's intakes... look them up.

Thanks huffer, im really thinking of getting the ebay one just so i can spend some more on headers and a nice exhuast. but also i kinda want name brand parts on my car.(makes me feal cooler) hahaha just kidding. In the long run will the injen perform better. Thanks for all the help this site is awsome.

Not really. It's a 3" bent tube with a cone filter on the end. That's really all there is too it. I'm running a KN filter with hacked up pieces of piping to my stock airbox from the factory grille scoop.

Spend your money on the more important power adders like headers, exhaust, and maybe even cams.

Yes Deffinatley, if i was going to go with ebay i was already going to get a k&n filter and the adapter for it, also would this work for the tubing...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-01-SUBARU-IMPREZA-L-2-5RS-AIR-FILTER-INTAKE-98-99-R_W0QQitemZ270119685016QQihZ017QQcategoryZ38634QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Yeah that should work, do you have pics of your engine bay? I think your MAF will have to go in between the tube and the cone filter.

Also, to make it a real CAI, I would get some ABS pipe and rubber coupler from Home depot and run the cone filter in the fender; there's a hole on the passenger side that will let you run the extra pipe to the MAF from the cone.

ok and is it worth it to make it a CAI. If so do u know what sive piping i will need and maybe a pic of where the filter is supposed to be.

3" is the sixe of the pipe; that's the standard size most cone filters come in with anyway. It fits the hole in the fender just fine (the hole is good for up to 3.5", at least it is on my BE). If you look at the passenger side fender wall, you should see a hole there. behind that hole in the fender is where the cone will sit. The pipe to the MAF is going to be coming out of that hole.

Is it ABSOLUTELY necessary making it into CAI? Hmm for a street car, probably not. If you don't want to do the extra work (it may be more trouble for some than it's worth), I wouldn't blame you for just sticking with the cone in the engine bay.

Yeah i was thinking of just doing the cone in engine at first so i dont have to spend ANY money on install/help from a mech i know so i can spend more money on my headers and exhaust. Then later i was thinking of going to make it a CAI. Thanks for the help.

**EDIT**
OK i found an injen intake for the 2.5RS and it says works with the maf sensor. Isnt that the box the gets in the way. If so this would work on the 96 gt, right?

Hey, I know that my car is not MAF, but I did a "custom" intake from a '93 EJ22 intake. It works good! Much better than snorkus. Still, I think that for the price, about $75 dollars, it was pretty good.

Here is a link to the picture, it is about half way down.

Also, just a note that I have noticed......I will occationally get a check engine light will come on. Any ideas. Last, the corrigated section will be removed tomarrow! (Corrigation = o, Non-Corrigated = O)
