Ive looked everywhere and cant find the hood with the scoop. All the parts stores online only sell the hood without scoop. Also does the grill from the wagon(i think outback) fit on the bd. So if anyone could help me find a hood plz tell me. Thanks Nick

You didn't look hard enough then. They sell some hoods on eBay with a scoop. All SUBARU parts stores online sell hood scoops. Yes a hood from a outback will hit. It's the same car but just a wagon.

BD/BG/BK can swap a lot of parts between the 3. Most of the parts you can't are obvious. As for the grill there is a slight difference. I don't know the years. I think it's 95 and 96 are different from 97-99. Someone will point it out. BUT it has been talked about MANY times. You need to search the forum and look. It may take more time than you want to. Asking the same questions that have been asked and discussed many times can get quiet annoying, and adds unnecessary clutter in the forums.

Shane had the years right (with exceptions) on the grille.

The difference in the grille was not between wagon and sedan, but between bumper styles.

Since you have a 96 GT, you'd be looking for the shorter grille style, which is mostly exclusive to 95-96 cars (excepting the 96 Outback).

So no, it wouldn't fit with your bumper. The mounting clips and everything else are the same, just not the bumper cutout.

Now to answer your hood question:

Most hoods sell without the scoop but with a cutout in them, and you have to buy the scoop separately. If you're looking at a GT hood (97-99) then you're getting a hood without the insert, that's all. You buy the insert separately.

OK sry reason i understand, but dont think i just dont search, i just dont understand sometimes becuase it says yeah someplaces and no some places. Then i see it on a car in a picture and dont uderstand. But thanks for the help and darn becuase i personally think that grills looks better!! As for the hood, i will just keep looking for the one with the cutout and the scoop. If not i guess ill just have to try to find one at a junkyard. Thanks and sry for posting dumb questions!

Seems like I read the answer in the first response.

If you think that is ridicule you need to visit some other boards.

I give it about 6 months before the attitude on this forum completely changes to NASIOC style. Guess as more people join, the less friendly it becomes.

But really.. you should also check out some junk yards possibly.. you might be able to find a hood w/hoodscoop for cheap.. but then you might need to paint it or something. Also, check out www.rs25.com (http://www.rs25.com) .. sometimes i see people parting out their cars there.. but mostly its imprezas. Check out ebay and www.car-part.com (http://www.car-part.com) as well. Good luck.

6 months? You obviously haven't been here for very long...

If we let things go, it would take a lot longer than 6 months to be like Nasioc, and we're not letting that happen. If you seriously think that this thread is full of ridicule, you need to recalibrate your sensitivity meter

Yea.. we got a ways to go before we hit the Nasioc meter of ass-hole-ish-ness. But still.. who cares anyways.. its an online forum, but instead of just being dick holes we might as well just answer the question.. or else.. why are we here? Why even waste our time (well.. maybe because we have nothing else to do)?

It isnt that bad around here.. but not everyone knows everything about their subaru. You cant expect a normal person to salivate for hours over the various performance parts and websites to buy things off of. Some people just have a car to have a car.. and when it needs stuff.. they ask here. When i first started out.. i didnt know the difference between any of the subarus.. but thats what the forums are for.

I think you should clarify this so people don't get confused. Legacy BD/BG GT/Outback hoods have the scoops molded into the hood. It isn't like a WRX hood where there is a hole cut out and the scoop is a separate piece. There is however a bezel trim piece for the Legacy scoop that goes around the scoop opening.

Yeah, Cajual's right - the insert isn't so much the scoop itself as the scoop opening. Although it would look rather awful without the insert.

It is all good guys, take a pill and realize we were all new to forums and post searching etc at one point. No need to get out panties in a bunch. However yes I do agree, the search button is a noob and experts best friend!

Treat our new members with respect and thanks, remember nasty language etc... is not in our polocy
