hi guys i got a 96 Legacy L and i really want to dump it so bad. but can't afford too much. i want to get the kyb-gr2s and some cheap sway bars off ebay. but i am still unsure of what springs and top hats to get.

my friend said that he could get me a set of lowering coil overs w/ adustable sleeves (from a respectable company, like teins) for like a 100 bones. but their for a honda or acura.

So first off what do you think of KYBs and sway bars from ebay? Do you think they would be real kybs?
Because everybody knows stuff off ebay is mass produced knock offs. and secondly what do you think about the coil overs? and top hats? any body.. thanks  :-( -ryan-

First of all, try re-reading your posts before you hit SUBMIT.

2nd - please don't cheap route your suspension. You'll regret it. Don't buy coilover "sleeves" from your buddy - they are not worth the hassle. You will lose suspension travel and both your kidneys from the crappy ride.

There is nothing wrong with KYB products on ebay - provided you check the part#'s with KYB.com.

3rd - swaybars have nothing to do with lowering or "dumping" your car.

A "dumped" car is going to handle like dried poo on a wet blanket.

^^ LOL
The normal saying is that a well handling car sticks like poo on a blanket... I just took the analogy a step further.
Dried poo on a wet blanket will stick, but not very well.

You not going to be able to get too much for cheap...struts + springs will run you around $400-500 just for the struts and springs. You could get the KYB GR2s + some springs such a H&R or Whiteline.. but its not going to be in the price you are looking for.

if you buy cheap springs, you are going to regret it later.. as your ride will become saggy and terrible. If you take your car hard on the corners, maybe just start out by getting some better struts (GR2s) and a sway bar? You might also be able to find some used springs + struts for a good price.. but you will have to look around.

For top hats, a nice new set would probably do you good, if not, i think you can get some from the wrx, or sti? Can anyone confirm this? I think it might only be for the rear however.. but im not really sure.

Good luck.. if i were you.. id just save up a bit more money and do things proper, instead of having to do it 2 times.

Getting some KYB gr2's and an 18mm Outback rear swaybar will help alot.

Ethier get fully adjustable suspension or don't with lowering springs. That's just my opinion.

yeah man they are right, i say save up a bit more, cause you can get some megan coilovers, not sleeves but full coilovers forl ike 800 or 900 bucks, which you can dump the car or whatever with, but in the mean time look into a decent rsb they arent too expensive and some heavy duty mounts.

check this store out, www.boxer4racing.com (http://www.boxer4racing.com)

that should give you a basic general idea of how much a good suspension setup will cost. goodluck

If you really "throw your car in the corners" why would you want cheap shit? Wait a bit longer and save up and get a good set up.
