93-2001 impreza set up??

he guys will the suspension from a 93-2001 impreza fit my 96 legacy l and lower it? i caught half the answer in another thread but am still unsure. im talking about the oem springs top hats and struts?

would stiffer lowering springs solve the sag problem. and would you by any chance know how shorter the suspension setup off a impreza is compared to a legacy. and will i encounter a fitment problem due to my car being the wagon ? :cool: ( i heard the wagon setups are different from the sedans)

You really are better off going for adjustable struts and a solid set of aftermarket legacy springs. The '02-05 imprezas are more comparable in terms of weight, I'm using a strut/spring combo from an '03 WRX. And it does sag in the rear a little.

I have GC suspension in my car. I personally like it a lot.

I have:
new OEM GC tophats
GC KYB GR2's
Espelir ASD or "Active Super Down" springs.

The ride is firm but not harsh. I have to drive on some pretty poor roads sometimes (pot holes and big speed bumps) but the car usually sustains composure over most of the bad crap. What I dont like about it is that the Impreza is a little bit lighter, so the Legacy will lose some suspension travel. My Legacy also doesn't like a full load of 4-5 people. It rubs a little bit on the top of the front fender walls. Overall I am extremely satisfied with how it rides. It is definetely sporty, and not excessively harsh. Its not so bad that your always trying to avoid that odd undulation in the road.
I can also recommend getting the STi motor mounts, new steering rack bushings and definetely upgrading to atleast an OB (18mm) rear sway bar.

Get some eibach pro kit springs for the legacy sedan. The cleanest lowering I've seen on a wagon. You can also get wagon specific springs, and the JDM bilstein shocks/springs off the wagon also are good for a very small drop (.25-.5")

remember, because of the weight of the tailgate and the extra length of the wagon, the rear springs need to be stiffer in order to avoid the dreaded sag.

I just put 02 wrx springs struts and top hats on my 97 bd and it sits perfect for a daily driver and handles wonderfully. There is about a 3.5 inch gap in the front and 3 in the rear and the car sits level. slightly upgraded sway bars and it could be real fun for the odd autox and spirited back road driving.
