Does anybody know why this happens and if it can be fixed? It seems like every one that I see has these same scratches. My moms 97 OB has it and my 97 BD GT has it too. Its really irritating and I hope its something that can be changed. If anybody has the secret please let me in on it.

I have it too on driver side window, once thought it was sand from winter.
mine turns out to be a little felt window guide that came off it's mount, scratched the hell out my my window. You have to take the interior trim off to access this and put your window down all the way

+1 for the felt pads. They wear out after about 2-3 years. It's normal.

Mine don't scratch, yet, but they leave these streaks that need to be cleaned.

The evils of having a car that has frameless windows I suppose.

Is it pretty easy to replace/get to? I wonder if it is worthwhile to swap out even if they aren't scratching your windows.

Easy to get to: lower glass, remove door card. remove pad, replace pad, replace door card. :D

Is there a good scratch remover/buffer product out there we could all try?

There's no way to buff scratches out of glass like this.

I use 0/0 steel wool to remove small scratches on my windshield. Depending on how bad your windows are that may help.
