Right now I have a 99 LGT 2.5 L DOHC NA (MAF) engine in my garage with busted internals and I'm looking at a 00 RS 2.5 L SOHC NA (MAP) engine
Is there any way to get the RS (MAP) engine to work with my LGT (MAF) ECU?
Can I take the intake manifold off my LGT (MAF) and put it on the RS (MAP)
Or what would I really have to do to get it to work or is it just too much and I shouldn’t bother...
Thxs
I know there is a thread a couple of spots down but my situation is different and I'm not trying to steal threads.

You could use the RS shortblock (I'm not sure if the Leg Intake Manifold will bolt right on) but you won't get the MAP to work with the ECU.

i jsut read this off of rs25.com
http://www.rs25.com/forums/showthread.p ... ht=maf+map (http://www.rs25.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59468&highlight=maf+map)
and that makes it sound like it would work unless i read it wrong??

Well, it's saying that you just leave the MAP alone (don't plug it in, just leave it), and use the MAF sensor from your car - you just use the intake piping that you have now.
Or to simplify wiring, you can use your current intake manifold and slap it on the SOHC EJ25.

Hybrid engine FTW!!!! DOHC heads, RS shortie!

So the MAP and MAF thing shouldn’t be a problem then
Would it be better to use the DOHC or the SOHC?
According to cars101.com the engine in the 00 RS has more torque than the 99 LGT and I didn’t know if that had to do anything with the SOHC heads.
And I’m assuming the SOHC are dual port exhaust

Isn't the SOHC non interferance motor? that would be reason enough to me to stick with the SOHC heads. Interferance motors ftl...

Yeah. The only non interference motors were the pre96 SOHC EJ22s.
Of course, all EJ22s are SOHC, but all EJ25s are interference.
The difference in the SOHC between interference an non is the valve shape - the valves can overextend and bend themselves on the interference engines.
