you could switch to larger tires and thus fool your speedo and the governor.

Glad you could see the sarcasm there, wasn't sure it would translate through being text and all  . My auto is governed at 110mph. Honestly, I wouldn't want my 2.2 to go higher than that...I might start loosing stuff.

Yeah, you must have a very long straight stretch to reach 112mph

hmm.. 112mph = 180km/h .. I have a '99 BD and I've maxed out my speedometer which is 190km/h... :-?

Past 70mph the accuracy of the stock speedometer drops rather quickly.

You need to use the tachometer & gear ratios to accurately determine top-speed... or a laser gun.

My old 98 BD GT 4eat had 120mph on the speedo and i topped it with no problems. and without loong straight line in less then half a mile i could go to 120+ from 70. cant bow for the accuracy of the speedo but i did pass cars like if they were standing

Only phase 1 was so graced by the fuel cut.

:-( Bummer. Of course, my speedo is numbered up to 140 or 160, where as the later legs only had to 120.

Yeah, I thought my car was climbing past 80 mph pretty quickly for how little power it has

My car cuts out at 175km/h

I couldn't care less, as I've only ever been close to that speed for less than a minute

I've takin my eclipse to 130mph. Though i will be changing out my gears with a economy model 1st gen neons gear. Basically, it had a taller gear ratio. That way, once i supercharge it and am done turning the engine into a 2.2L, i might be able to hit 180mph. The speedo only goes to 170mph.

I got my BE to hit the governor. 5,500 rpm in fifth gear. It's awesome looking down at the speedometer and realizing it's pointing down, through the odometer.

Haven't found the speed limiter in my BK yet, though. I might give it a shot tonight.

i hit 120 in my BD on highway 5 going to LA
the speedometer was maxed out, but the tach said i still had 1500 rpms to go
i would have checked my gps for the actual speed but it was already getting pretty shaky

I'm afraid to hit 85 on mine. I know it'll go faster than that, but...with 214k, who knows what it'd do.

Mine climbed to 100 mph pretty easily, I wouldn't worry about it.

(not that we need to go much faster than 70...)

i've pinned my needle in my BD (120mph) and checked my GPS, I was only going 112mph in my 4EAT with my mods, so I know thats where my governor is set to.

Yeah you don't really need that much space to get to 110. But is is horrible when the governor kicks in. it woul dbe kinda nice to get rid of that. the more annoying problem I have found (I think) is that if I cruise over 80 for more than half an hour or so the check engine light turns on. The car is fine, all fluids anr good and the temp is fine, the engine runs fine, no problems.

It has happened to my dad when he was going up to San Francisco, And it happened to me while I was on my way to Chico. I was able to reset it while I was in Chico and on the way back I made sure I didn't go past 80. It is really easy to just haul while on the I-5, I-505, and I-80. While on my way home the needle hovered over 76-79 and the CE light never came on.

Has anyone else experienced this? If it is possible to disable it that would be great.

I have no idea... I just wanted to know if prolonged speed will set it off.

get it pulled at Autozone. That'll tell you exactly what the CEL is about and what's causing it.

Hit the limiter on my way down I5 last night, 110ish :-( . Scared the daylights out of me when the governor kicked it, thought I blew somethin. Nowhere like the governor on my old Frontier, but higher though. Figured I'd open her up and see what she can do, got their rather fast from 80  .

Yes.

I believe I hit the brick wall at 125ish GPS?
