Mazda 6 having same security remote as mine??

i dont set my alarm any/ever, because i dont have the remote to it.

Yesterday when i got home from work, i came inside my apartment here at school and a few mins later, i heard what i thought was my alarm going off. well i looked outside and noticed a guy kind of giggling and hitting his remote on and off (his mazda 6 was right beside mine). i didnt think anything of it and went on about my business. later that night i went to get in my car to go somewhere and noticed my red alarm light was flashing on the dash beside the ligth switch like it was armed. i unlocked the door with the key and opened the door and sure enough the alarm went off. once i remembered how i turned it off that last time it had went off on me after i had the battery unplugged, i started to wonder what made it set. Could the guy with the mazda 6 have a remote code just like mine and his set mine on and off? he was just a guest here and i havent seen him before or i would ask him to hit his remote.

kinda got me worried about him being able to unlock my doors and stuff with it too if he could control my alarm...

mine does that too but it seems to be mostly people with chevy's.. it doesnt unlock the doors, just sets off the alarm.. its weird..

Yeah, my father-in-law's Chevy astro van remote makes my car blink.

Would just making it go off actually set the alarm though? and why wouldnt that let him be able to control my power locks?

i dont know why it wont let them control my locks. I just know it doesnt, it just sets off my alarm. As for my car, it activates my alarm and unfortunatly has mine set to where its been disturbed and it wont shut off. It just keeps going until i hit the right combination of buttons.. however mine is really messed up and its getting replaced.lol

95ish-97 subaru alarms were the same codealarm system used in fords and gm's of the same vintage. I think you can program an old gm/ford 2 button remote to work on our cars.

My 98 L wagon had the same problem. Called the dealership and they told me that the car has memory for four seperate remotes (I have two). When I reprogrammed mine I did two lock and unlock cycles on each remote and I haven't had any more problems.
