I read somewhere (either here, legacycentral, usmb, or nasioc) that there is a possibility that 1995 5spd Legacies are obd-1.

Any truth to this? Any one on here have a '95 with 5spd that can verify or denounce this claim?

I believe so. I was told 95 5MT are OBDI and 95 4EAT is OBDII. (My 4EAT is OBDII)

Mark, chime in.

We had a 1995 BK that was ODB II. 2.2 with a 5 speed.

Well, the chassis/engine are OBDII, BUT the federal law for OBDII compliance states that all cars 96 and newer must have it. The good news is that us 95'ers can retrograde to a early-version STi or WRX engine (being OBDI), and not get any penalty for it.

That doesn't work for us in Kalifornia... if it was obd-ii from the factory, you cannot retrograde it to obd-i.

I wasn't sure how strict they were there. Damn. Kalifornia and their highfalutin' laws! Guess you guys are stuck with only the OBDII compliant engines.
