Anybody here use these before? Went to install them today and they dont line up. Package says they are for EJ22 Turbo 16v SOHC, there is one hole that seems to be missing. It is on the old HG but not on the new ones. Any ideas? You can see in the first pic where I layed the old HG on the new one and it blocks the hole.

Im thinking the only thing I could do besides getting a different gasket is to use my drill press and very carefully make a hole? Anybody think this will work? I dont want to ruin my engine over a headgasket but I need to get this car running asap.

more importantly - does the new gasket block any holes on the block?

Yes, it blocks a hole between the head and block.

Call Cometic - and send them a pic of the block itself showing the problem. You may have a different block to their template, or they might just tell you it's ok to punch a hole...

It's metal right? Stencil it out and drill it.

Since it is metal and the area falls within the beveled area I went ahead and drilled it out in my drill press. Hopefully it will work out. I got the engine mostly reassembled today but all the exhaust studs on one of the heads fell out, already tapped them, just need new studs. Will hopefully be running next weekend if nothing else goes wrong

Nice, good luck with it. Do you have anymore pics of your car?

I will post some up once I get the engine completely swapped. BTW, the coolant reservoir that came with my turbo is trashed and all the hoses for the oil/water were missing. Does anybody have a diagram how this all hooks up, and has anyone hooked it up w/out the reservoir(I understand I will need to use a turbo timer).
