I can't find any images of the back, all I know is the PART# 72311AE11D
if that helps.

You could email subaruparts.com about it and ask if it fits BE's.

They're pretty good about fitment issues.

I thought I read somewhere that you needed the whole or maybe just some of the A/C to make this work. Something to do with a thermometer and it connection to the A/C. Correct me if I am wrong. I'm old and eat lots of Equal so I get stuff mixed up or just forget it altogether.

I know thats true for BD/BK/BG, I don't know about the BE

Wait, is this JDM? I thought it was just an expensive option for BEs here.

It is not JDM, its a stock part on some BE's, outbacks.

dodik - didn't want to trouble you but if you don't mind, let me know whats back there. I'm not sure i trust a general website for opinions.

So, I tried to save this picture but it is copyrighted so I can't but here is the link to a pic of the back and the wiring harness.

http://businessflow.cas07.mainstreetcom ... d1ec17e7f4 (http://businessflow.cas07.mainstreetcommerce.com/3.9.4/media/item_image_sheet.aspx?domain=lkqonline.com&item_guid=a0cc15b4-b577-4c21-be06-6dc78898bc4d&image_guid=6d8f2ebd-7abf-43d9-b464-d0d1ec17e7f4)

I know it doesn't really help but I just figured. I might have to cruise down and see my buddy at the junkyard and if they have one I might just pick it up and see what I can come up with. I just like the look of this so much better than what we got.

The standard HVAC controls have a cable arm going to it (for the heater / temp control) in the back and if I remember right some vacuume (SP?) lines for the air direction / defroster control knob and a wiring harness for the rest. We have a mechanical / manual system as standard equipment.

What you have shown is the automatic climate control panel (but you already know that). It does nothing but send signals to servos all over the place to control airflow and temp automatically.

To make it work you would need to swap over the entire system otherwise that panel isn't going to do anything except look pretty.

I don't know exatcly how many or what parts are required - but I can imagine that its more work than what its worth. The whole dash will probably need removed and maybe more. Let me know if you find otherwise though...

I think those automatic systems only came in the higher end outback models.
