I had to make a new poll to get a better idea what would need to be made or ordered. I will see if there is interest on other Legacy forums. Please only vote if you plan on ordering a set. 20+ will be $49.99

Here is the old thread for anyone new coming into it.

Can anyone confirm that the 2.2 NA and 22T use the same intake manifold gasket or not?

I think he is going to make 20 of them. I just confirmed the part number for the gasket that he will use as a templet. So if you want in let me know I will start a list and take money orders when tooling begins. I may even just have him come over so I don't have to handle any money, I prefer not to.

ok i finally got a chance to post over here...sorry it took me a few days, so dang busy.

a little status update about these:

my CAD guy just got done with the new layouts so i will be sending them in to get cut tomorrow. 3 week turnaround once i get the designs to the cutters.

We will be making the following:

1998 DOHC 2.5L NA "phase 1" - subaru oem gasket no. 14035AA281
93-99 1.8/2.2 engines - subaru oem gasket no. 14035AA290
99+ 2.5 NA "phase 2" - subaru oem gasket no. 14035AA383

i know most of the leggies/imprezas fit into those categories.

the CAD drawings we sent off yesterday so i should have a sample in my hands in ~10 days. Once i get the sample and give the a ok to make the rest, it usually is about 2 week turnaround.

doesn't the intake manifold act as a heatsink for the engine though? so that means if you install this spacer, won't the engine heat up faster? or is it not a significant amount that will cause any kind of damage?

regardless i think i will buy one since it's cheaper in group buy and i want to try it out :)

Your engine heating up has nothing to do with your intake manifold. It has to do with your thermostat that stays closed so coolant cannot pass through to cool the engine.. but you already knew that

JD is right, your engine maintains it's temp by using the cooling system, not by a bunch of heatsinks.

I hope these will be the 8mm "triple thick" spacers.

I'm not saying that because there is a spacer there that my engine will overheat. But if you think about it the manifold acts as a heatsink (whether it was meant to be one or not).

i'm just speculating, no need to get smart :P

still buying one

I hope these will be the 8mm "triple thick" spacers.

we'll stick with the 3mm for now...they seem to work well. if you guys would really want the 8mm its going to take a bit longer because i'll have to get the correct longer IM bolts as well.

Reason
06-29-2007, 07:12 PM
ahhh!! I would rather have the 8mm. That's what we put in my friends maxima and they work great. In my had I rather have more of that material, plus I want to increase the intake manifold volume.

how much thicker do you think we could make it without having to use longer IM bolts? sorry..dont have a spare gc IM and head sitting around me right now.

GrimmSpeed

alright reason...you got lucky....

the phenolic material supplier had already cut the sheets for us in the 3mm sizing...well i got them to take the hit and hook is up with some of the thicker 8mm material!!

the change is going to delay things a little bit but we'll get them. if you wanted them sooner you can blame reason for wanting thicker spacers

Reason

Jusin I get in enough trouble alone on here, I don't need your help lol Thats great though, I can't wait to get these (even though I don't have a Legacy lol)

Since I had to claw and tooth Justin to get us the thicker spacers I think everyone who joins the group buy should put a few dollars towards mine, it's just a thought

update

i'll have the 3 different designs in hand tomorrow and will need to test fit them to make sure the CAD drawings were perfect. i told the guys that the sl-i guys were waiting for them so they said instead of their usual 3 week turnaround the could get them done in a week!!!

have the samples in hand. going to fit on each of the 3 engines tomorrow and this weekend to ensure fit ment and then we'll be golden.

as for pricing, our 2.0/2.5 turbo 8mm spacers are 84.99 and include 8 longer IM bolts. the retail on these will be the same and then we'll start knocking down the price from there for the group buy...obviously the more people the lower the price is in the GB. i need to hurry up an source some longer IM bolts for these as well as they are different than the 2.0/2.5 bolts.

can you tell me if you have them for 2.2L 30Anniversary Edition.
It is a phase 2 2.2(single port header)

Wiscon_Mark
08-07-2007, 12:26 AM
The single port exhaust shouldn't affect the intake manifold design, but it's possible it's a bit different because it's phase II.

What year Impreza uses the same engine?

All of them. Exact same EJ22 throughout the years between the Legacy and Impreza.
