View Full Version : Projector High/Low Beam Wiring ?

As anybody who upgraded from USDM to JDM Projectors knows, the JDM headlights have three bulbs (High, Low, and Daytime) whereas the USDM headlights have one bulb (High and Low combined). My question is: to see if it is possible to rig the wiring of the harness (on the JDMs) so that when the high beams switch is activated, both the low beam bulbs AND the high beam bulbs are on instead of just the high beams. If possible, this would give a great deal more light to the road. Also, when my high beams are on the fogs automatically go off. Can this be changed as well?

You'll want to look at upgrading your harness wire I think - but anything is possible with the wiring.
You could wire the fogs independently.

Does your car have daytime running lights? If not, you're in luck!
Keeping both high and low beams on is fairly simple, the independent fog light is a little bit tricky.. actually something I haven't even figured out yet.
The yellow/blue wire on your USDM socket is ground.. if you ground that wire directly to the chassis, your low beams will stay on with the high beams. Don't cut the wire, simply get a spade connector with a wire attached to it and ground the bare end of the wire and insert the spade connector into the female side of the socket.
The electrical system works in a way where it switches ground from low beam to high beam because the USDM bulbs are a dual filament.
If you HAVE DRL (daytime running lights) then the moment you put your e-brake down with the car started, the low beams will turn on disregarding where your selector switch is set to. If you DON'T have DRL, then they will not turn on when the e-brake it disengaged; they will function with the selector switch.

Sweet, I dont have DRL so the upgrade should be really simple then, I have all the wiring charts for the car already, never really looked hard enough to figure out the ground. Thanks
