I'm thinking about changing tire sizes. I know this would screw up the speedometer. What I don't know is if there's any way to fix it so the speedometer would be correct with the new size tires. Car's a 97 Legacy Outback, and I'm thinking of going with bigger tires for better clearance.

depending on your new tire size the effect wont to big of a differance, id just use a tire size calculator to find out how big the differance is at your normal crusing speeds. because as far as i know there isnt anyway to adjust your speedo. all i have done is just remember that at like 55, with the larger tires you are actually going 60 or whatever the calculator tells you, so u can still go the speed you want even tho your speedo will be reading lower.

You could go rally-style and get a GPS-based speedo.

Well, I have a GPS, so I can always go that route easily. Even if I just use it to see where say, 35, 45, 55 and 65 really are. I was just hoping there was a simple solution, like changing the drive gear, or adding an adapter box or something like that.
