OK if your going to tell me to just do the swap DONT post it PLEASE. I bid on the ej22 turbo the guy is selling on ebay and i want to know what type of modification i will need to do to install this. I plan on swapping my engine at a later date and i want to build a turbo just to run very small boost. Will these exhaust manifold bolt up to mine? Can i order a crossmember from the dealer and how much will this probably run me? I was going to upgrade to a walbro 255 fuel pump and get a boost gauge. Please try to be helpful and i understand this wont be reliable but i dont plan on havning my engine for too long. Thanks

I found this on ebay and tried to get info from the guy about how it was done, but a shop did it all and he knew nothing. :-( :-( :-(

First off, good luck. You'll be limited to about 5 psi of boost.
you'll need a turbo xmember, and don't bother ordering from a stealership. It'll cost you like $3,000 (exaggeration), where you can get one from a junkyard for way cheaper, look for one from a WRX.
Your stock block will explode pretty soon after running boost. Upgrading to a walbro fuel pump will be awesome for the swap you said you would be doing, as well as the gauge. But, you're going to have to fab up a ton of stuff that most probably will be useless for the EJ22T, except maybe the uppipe, downpipe, and a few other odd things. at least you can set up the exhaust for turbo, and keep that after you get the other motor. It'll be a lot of work, and relativly little reward, compared to the swap. Though, it'll spread your work out a little.
Do you have an EJ25D or an EJ251? If you've got an EJ25D, can I have your heads after you put the new motor in? I'm gonna need another set (going on an EJ22E block).

Sarra's kind of right, the EJ25D isn't the best to boost, but he's exaggerating about what it can take when it's tuned properly.
You'll want new fuel rails and injectors to go along with that pump. Definitely some sort of standalone Engine management. The EJ22T turbo would probably be a good one for N/A application as it's small and spools quickly and you're not going to be running a whole lot of PSI.
You'll need the turbo (engine) crossmember (get it from any EJ series turbo Subaru) as well as an exhaust system (uppipe, downpipe) to accomodate the turbo.
Piecing together a turbo kit can be done inexpensively if you have lots of patience, but working overtime to afford a swap that will be reliable is probably more fruitful in the end. Good Luck.
EDIT: I had a longer post explaining in detail, but however, I feel that if you'd only be turboing for a short time my simple advice to you is not freaking bother! Too much hastle and first gen ej 25's are time bombs with or without a turbo.
Just wait for a swap.

Notch your crossmember, instead of buying a turbo one; works on both swaps and kits.
As with ANY used vehicle, the more documentation you have on whatever work is done to the car (includes maintenance, repairs, AND modifications), the better idea of what kind of condition it is in.
