Hey guys Im thinking about buying an early 90s legacy as a daily driver for when my 97 goes under the knife for the swap. Is there anything I should look for? Also, what is the designation for the 2.2l turbo version, as it is not badged that way I am sure. Any help is greatly appreciated!

If you are looking to buy a 90-94 turbo...just look for the hood scoop. To my knowledge they didn't put them on non-turbo cars.
Buy a 1st gen with no leaks or funny noises and you will be fine.

What he said.
Turbos are hard to come by, and many of them were also AT.. you don't want those kinds of problems. Besides.. do you really need a turbo daily when your other one is undergoing a turbo swap? A daily driver should be gas efficient, and well.. that's one thing turbos aren't known for.

I'm with those two...get yourself a nice EJ22E and save money on gas....enjoy the savings while they last!

I vote for an 88 loyale. You can pick them up for like $500. Still a subie. Its a wagon (yay for room to put exhaust and big parts) and at $500 it'll get you around for a month or so with no problems.

Please excuse PWT as he is smoking crack. I haven't payed more than 700 for any of my legacys. My first one was a 90 AWD wagon for 700, second was 90 5MT wagon for 100, 3rd is 93 4EAT sedan 200 dollars, 4th is 92 4EAT sedan 200 dollars, and I am picking up a 96 AWD 5MT impreza for $700.
The deals are out there...just do your homework. I have a 93 AWD 4EAT Turbo sedan I will sell you for $1,700.00

You are only in VA...come get this turbo sedan for $1,700...it's a steal. Then you can swap a 5MT into it further down thr road and have 2 sick turbos.
It's worth the drive.

The deals aren't here in CO. Not that I can find. I bought my 96 for $3,900. Though, maybe thats cuz there is nothing but outbacks here. Most of the early leg's go for over $1k and all the loyales are the $500 cars.
