The bodylines look a lot more muscular than the WRX. Looks like a winner to me. But the smallest things can change the whole look, we'll have to see it unveiled.

I couldn't afford a WRX or STi, and I wouldn't want a base model Impreza. And the Bugeyes are cool, the Goatse front end is not.

How are frameless windows superior in strength? You mean they made the glass a little stronger because it doesn't have a metal frame to help its rigidity? I'd hardly brag about that, it's necessary.

Here's my experience with frameless windows:

- shit ton of wind noise due to worn down seals
- driver's side window became loose (when my dad had the car) and started falling down in the window well

Other drawbacks?
- Somebody can just bend your window out of the way and unlock your car (major security issue there)
- You can hit your head on the windows when they're up and it is just as painful (if not worse)


It's real cool when you can shut the door with the window down, I love that, but when the window is up, I get tired of it rattling and sounding generally junky every time I shut it. Frameless windows are a tradeoff, and it totally depends on what you value more, but I'd say that the negatives outweigh the positives.

My BE is, by far, the EASIEST car I have ever broken into. I mean, Ive broken into a cop car with an antenna off it's roof (dont ask), but the cop left th ewindow down partially.

When I was moving, I put ALL my keys (my STi key, and like..5 spares) on 1 ring and accidentally locked it in the trunk. 5 minutes later, I was back in action. It was WAY too easy.

I don't have to worry as much about someone just bending my window and getting away scot-free. My alarm will go off if you unlock the car in any way, shape, or form without using the remote. :lol: if you even try opening the door without disarming the alarm, it'll go off from the shock of letting the door handle go when it's fully extended!

Frameless windows allow a stronger, much more reinforced B pillar. No more super strong ultra-reinforced carbon steel plate at the top of the b pillar. The door itself can be stronger, since it's all one unit. The door can be lighter, since it doesn't have an extended frame.

Wind noise? Um, our 1995 BK had NO wind noise. My 98 GT BK has no wind noise. My BE didn't have wind noise. My mom's BH does, but her car is kinda stupid, not sure what's up with it. My dad's T100, on the other hand, does have framed windows. It has lots of wind noise! Maybe you should replace your seals, Mark? A framed window isn't necessarily going to be better with seals, except it'll make the seals MUCH more of a bitch to replace when they do wear down.

VW's have this problem, and they have framed windows. With a non-framed window, you can prevent the window from getting loose/falling down/rattling by closing your car door more gently when the window is partly down or fully down. It's not a buick!

Security tradeoffs or not, I'd still take frameless windows.

I've heard this before and I think it's complete Nasioc invented BS. The amount of space a framed window takes up on the B pillar is negligible, and there are cars with much larger B pillars than Subaru. I am perfectly willing to accept that Subaru makes stronger B pillars than other cars, but I think it has little to do with frameless windows.

As for the wind noise, I would tend to think that a seal on both sides of the window vs. a seal on one side of the window would work a little better, especially when the window is solid in it's position.

now back to the 09 sti. i dont like it it looks too much like a ford focus wagon. its ugly. but i would sure love to fit that 325 hp beast of an engine into my bk.... mmmm. that would be fun. :grin:
