My name is Jeromy and I live in Indianapolis. I have a 2000 Legacy L. I never intended to be a subaru owner, but the other cars available when I was looking to buy were horrible. I always thought of my neighbor's yellow box of a station wagon from the 70's when people mentioned subaru, and I wanted no part of it.

I've been extremely happy with my car, although I could do without the spoiler. Right up until the headgasket blew. The body is in excellent shape and the interior is still nice. I do have a small problem with the retractable cup holder in the dash, it sits right above the radio. My wife put a drink there, and it spilled. The radio was fine once I cleaned it off, but the plastic housing around the shifter got sticky and refused to move. It broke on the way home before I could clean it out.

That's about it. Thanks for reading.

Yeah the cupholder seems to be an afterthought in these cars. I got Wendy's frosty all over my MP3 player because the lid wasn't all the way on and the stupid cup holders.

Are you doing the headgasket yourself or having a shop do it?

Well, the instructions provided here seem pretty easy to understand, so I'm tempted to do it myself. But I'm not a mechanic. I've never done engine work on any car, let alone something as complicated as this. So I'm probly gonna have a garage do it.

I was gonna ask about my options for this in the engine/drivetrain section.
