This is a CD player unit from an 06 STI. I dont know how the back looks, but does anyone know if it will fit a BD?

Find the plug, match the wires, splice and hey presto, everything works.

Don't those two have the same plugs just in different positions?

Did you even read my post?

It doesn't matter if the plug doesn't fit - just splice the new plug into your existing harness.

i read your post, im just new to some of this stuff, especially the electrical bits, so i wasnt sure what splice meant. Im guessing i would have to buy the 'plug' that will fit the smaller STi unit opening (where could i get this?), cut off my old plug from my existing harness and solder the new one on, correct?

Correctomundo!

You could go a much cleaner (but more work) route - just cut the plug off your old harness, and put some female connectors on the harness. Put male connectors on the old plug.

Put male connectors on the NEW plug.

Hey presto, if you ever decide to switch back, no more cutting and soldering.

You should be able to get a new plug from a dealer, someone parting out a crashed car, or even Crutchfield.com maybe?

awesome thanks a lot. now does anyone know if there is a clock in the STi unit ... or do STi's have dash clocks also?

also does anyone know which connector is responsible for what? because crutchfield only has the bigger plug and it says here

what that one is for. what is the other, smaller connector for? I know the round one is the antenna. thanks.

Small connector is probably for an optional cd-changer or a subwoofer hookup? Call the dealer and ask?

Just buy an 02-03 WRX 6 disc. It's a plug and play and looks stock. Save yourself the hassle of splicing and shit.

On the first two pictures, the right connector is the stock universal Subaru one, or very very close.

The left connector must be the CD changer controls, as they're double DIN units.
