Choices, choices, choices... Need some Opinions??

So its about time for me to buy some wheels and i have a few choices i really like but i dunno if they will fit with the set up i want to run.

Eventually this summer i will lower my car on KYB Gr-2 Struts and Whiteline Control Springs and get a set of STI Brembos. I plan to stick with this setup unless none of the wheels that i have listed will work with this combo then ill have to make some changes to fit the wheels.

My tires of choice are going to be the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2.

Here are some of the wheels i have my search narrowed down to. Let me know which you guys like or if they will even fit.

2004 STI BBS (Gold) hardest and most expensive to get ahold of probably. dont think there is a need for a link.

And this next one is the same that is on the ESX Sti, but i dont think they will fit due to the off set. let me know though cause this is one of the top choices if they fit:

4. Rota Tarmacs - I have these and absolutely love 'em. So you should avoid them at all cost :grin:

I had an '04 STi and I was running the stock BBS's in the summer, and the Rota Tarmac II's in the winter (which are now my summers on my Leg). I actually liked the Tarmacs more than the BBS's - I liked the style more and they were easier to clean (the spokes on the BBS's were scallopped, whereas the Tarmacs were flat). If you are looking at gold, the Tarmacs are a lighter and brighter gold, whereas the BBS's were a darker and more dull gold. The only thing I liked about the BBS's were the smaller weight. Considering the price difference new, I would go with the Tarmacs. If you can find a good set of used BBS's close in price to new Tarmacs, you may want to go with the BBS's if weight is your concern.

I love your selection of rims, pretty much all what I was looking at myself. I never seen the Areco's before but very nice.

Oh and I chose the Areco's because I've seen many other Legacy's with those other rims. Seeing the same crap (even if it is nice) all the time gets old fast.

would the pro D1s fit being 18 x 7.5 with a +38 Offset. i figured from what ive read about offsets and our cars that they wouldnt fit.

They'll fit, but they'll rub and wear the wheel bearings down.

If your fenders aren't rolled, you'd probably need a 215 or a narrower 225. A wide 225 will rub over bumps in the back. When I was on soft coils (stiffer than the Controls) I rubbed on 225's something fierce.

What itres are you looking at, that's the biggest factor in how the sizing runs.

BFGoodrich G-Force KDW 2s is what i would like to run

215/40? 215/45? 225/40? 225/45?

I was planning on rolling the fenders when i painted my car this spring. I was going to get the rims this winter and wait to put them on in the spring anyways.

I thought i would have a problem rubbing on the rear struts more then i would the fenders.

If you want to stay on the safe side, go with a 215/45. That said, if you're going to roll the fenders, you can probably fit a 225/45 without too many problems. I ran 070's (wide 225's) on 17x7.5 ET48's on WRX struts with GC sleeves, and I wasn't rubbing on the strut body or what was left of the perch. Either tire in a 40-series will be way too short and will likely have a load rating too low for your car, if you can even find the size.

Ok, put these in order of importance, the first being the most important, and so on.

Price
Width
Weight
Design

That should narrow down whatever you're looking for. If you want a 16lb wheel, that'll knock out a couple of your choices...if you want something in 8" width (I don't know why, since you can only go up to 225's on your BD anyway), that'll eliminate some of those on your list, and so on and so forth...

Those weight ratings are fine. Figure your car is about 3400 pounds loaded.if you've got a 4800-lb capacity (being simplistic) you'll be fine if you load up the trunk with cement, lead, or bodies.

A lot of 205/40's and 215/40's will hav ea load rating of 800 pounds or so. That means 3200 pounds of capacity for a car that weighs......3400? Not a good idea for tire longevity or safety. Sure there's safety factors built into those ratings.....but I prefer some headroom.
