TEIN Type HA Coilovers for BE Legacy 2000-2004

I'm pretty sure the Type HA coilovers (which are the ones I got) are Japan only.

So unless you ordered them from Japan and are having them shipped overseas, you might wanna double check.....

OMG. Very nice. I just installed a set of TEIN Wagon GT coilovers on my Outback. Once you get these on could you give me some tips as to how to actually adjust the ride height? I got mine second hand with no instructions. :-(

OK for the install, its actually pretty damn easy.

One issue is adjusting the ride height because once they are on, there is too much weight on them so in order to re-adjust, you need to pull the coilover out to do it.

My suggestion is doing one side of the first, dropping it and seeing how you like it and decide from there. Also once you decide they will settle and lower about 1/4 inch.

::Tools Required::

- Metric sockets 12mm, 14mm, 17mm, 19mm, 21mm (I think)
- Possibly a crowbar
- The Tien wrenches to adjust height
- A rubber hammer
- A 2nd person to help


First you need to loosen your lugnuts and jack your car up. Remove wheel. Remove bolt in the bracket that attaches your brake line to your strut. I personally remove the lower bolts 1st then go for the top bolts. SO take the 2 nuts off the part of the strut that attaches to the hub. They are 19mm or 21mm i can't remember. Nothing will happen at this point since the bolts are through it still. The bolts will be difficult to take out so you might have to use something force them out. A rubber hammer would be best but if you dont have one, improvise.

Just be sure not to mess up the threads on the bolt.

Once you take the bolts out, the hub will move. I just had a buddy stand on the top of my rotor to keep pressure on it so I didnt get hurt. Once the bolts are out u can push the strut away from the hub so it will be just dangling there. Also be careful doing that since there might be some weight on it still. then remove the top 3 bolts which will be in your engine bay and trunk. Not the middle nut, the 3 on the outer parts of the strut. They are 14mm I believe. Have somebody holding onto the strut so it doesnt fall.

For the install just do the opposite. It should fit right in and make sure you have the top hats facing the correct way. I lightly put on the top nuts just to hold the coilover in place then completely attach the bottom part.

REMEMBER TO RE-ATTACH THE BRAKE LINE TO THE STRUT. Lots of people forget then their brake line rubs against the rotor and gets a hole and then bye bye brakes.

I think that is everything. All in all it should take a few hours since i believe this is your first time.

It looks like your backs are perfect, at least in my opinion.

The fronts could go a little bit lower. That is just my opinion on it though. My car I counted 6 threads from the bottom of the threads to the bottom of the ring adjusting thing.

For the bottoms I couldn't count there wasn't enough room. :-?

You should be able to adjust ride height while they are on the car. I've adjusted 2 sets of Teins, one on a 91 Sentra SE-R and one on a 2000 Sentra SE.

It's a workout, but its possible.

If you need to, compress the helper springs with zip ties or c-clamps.

Otherwise, you might have it cranked a bit low. Some people ditch the helper springs to slam it.
