Hi all,

The button on the top of my ebrake handle is broken, seemingly in two. The spring inside the housing slides out and the remainder of the ebrake mechanicals are not easily reachable. The ebrake works still, but will not hold a set position; you have to manually hold it. Does anyone know what part number this is?

Thanks, and I'll post some pictures when I get home of the problem.

EDIT: Not my pic, one of dplacencia's car, but it shows what I broke.

UPDATE: after talking with the local parts guy and the repair guys at Super Rupair in Boulder, it's not such a simple fix. You either have to replace the handle($35 part, $150 to have it installed) or try to rethread the button onto the handle. I tried the latter idea first, but it didn't hold up for one weekend even. I broke down, bought the used part, and installed it myself, solving the problem.

Hope this helps other people in the same situation.

you answered your own question before I could.

I used a bolt with a nut on the end of it (it's the same thread as the battery tie downs, m8 I believe?). You can then pull on bolt as you pull up the parking brake. This was a ghetto temporary fix.

To fix a button is from what I hear almost impossible and it is just easier to replace the whole unit. I replaced my entire handle, I had to take my entire center console apart (4 screws) and then the bolts that hold the parking brake down.

It really sucks when the button breaks.
