I don't know who manufactured my e-bay intake (no names nor stickers). It was for a 95-01 RS. Only mod I had to do was cut it at the end for the air cleaner (I'm using my stock desnorkled airbox). It cost me $4.95 + $31.95 shipping and in my opinion was worth every penny. Alot smoother on acceleration and into the upper rpms (no more hesitations). My car can now climb smoothly and effortlessly up to 6500rpm and sound nice in the process.

Sorry no pics of the modifications done to it, but looking at the pics of the bought and installed you should get the idea.

I have the same thing basically ^^ The one thing I would do is check the coniditions of your bung welds. There's some holes/cracks formed near mine. I plan to JB weld them shut.

I bought the exact same thing caoutback has, and love it. I replaced those pathetic hoses with some nice fuel line and had to install a fitting for the idle air bypass that was as expensive as the intake. I also had to trim it to fit. Considering how much I paid for it, it's the cheapest dollar/horsepower thing out there.

The only caveat is workmanship-- the welds on mine aren't the best cosmetically, and the inside of the tube has its rough spots, usually around the welds. It's still a lot smoother than the stock intake tube though. I'd buy it again.

EDIT: If you do a lot of SCCA auto-x or rally-x, just replacing the tube bumps you into STS class(Auto-x) and PA class(rally-x). Just so you know.

Heay, thanks guys! Apreceate the feedback. Unfortunatly, I went back & looked again; it's for an Impreza damn. Well I'm keepin my eyes open for good deals.
On that note, has any one tried to retrofit a CAI for an Impreza on to a Legacy? I think it's not likely to fit but thought I would throw it out there and see.

Ya, what everyone else said. Impreza stuff will fit; my intake's one for an impreza. If you're handy with a hacksaw and eyeballing measurements, you're golden.

So you just need to trim the inner quarter panel? Or does the intake it self also need to be trimed?

Whoever makes the ebay intakes changed the pipe by making it a little longer. If you use your stock airbox, you'll need to cut the intake pipe itself a little shorter. The older style like I have were a little too short and required a pretty good sized rubber coupler to get it attached. The only mod you will probably to have to make (besides length) would be to add a bung of some kind to attach your idle air bypass line. I used a plastic L shaped connecter from home depot. It was like $2. I have a long article in the DIY section on installing it with responses from alot of people.

If you want to keep the stock airbox you can use the intake piping from a 96 GT, I think I paid about $10 at a junkyard (and that was high).

It's basically the same thing as the eBay intakes only plastic and with all the right hose connections, just a tube from the MAF to the TB without any resonators etc.

As a bonus it looks completely stock, and I suspect it conducts less heat into the intake charge than a metal one.
