extras ?

i wanted to know if some of you have tried the following extras on your BD legacy and how did you like them.

Engine block heater
hood deflector
rear diff protector (does this fit my BD ? )

Mark had the bug deflector and I believe he has a block warmer. The block warmer discussion has come up before and several people on here said they really liked them.

As for the rear diff protector, I don't know.

Bug deflector rattles like crazy above 80mph, but it does save your paint. However, it's rather fragile when cold.

My friend had one on his 99 outback, and he took it off.

whell, there is NO road in iceland thad has a speed limit above 60mph, so thad doesn´t mater. :-?

There's no road in New York, United States that has a speed limit about 65mph. Everybody just speeds. Also, on windy days, it rattled at much lower speeds, <50 mph

I've had the hood deflector (on a black car I think it makes it look more aggressive). I like it. Didn't rattle much at all at higher speeds, depends on the quality of the install. I doubled up the padding under the lip, and it took me an hour to install it because I was making sure it was dead center.
You do have to remove it every so often to clean under it properly.

Engine block heater - had this also - this is great during the winter time to keep the block at a good temp. Dramatically reduces wear and tear on startup and helped get the car warmer faster.

Rear diff protector will fit your car. You will want to drop this down every 6 months to remove stones and rocks. This is good if you drive rough roads or go off-roading. My cars are strictly tarmac so no need for it.

Typically, the car will warm up faster - you'll suffer less wear on the engine because the pistons won't have to expand as much.

I've got the bug deflector on my 98 Outback that says "Subaru" on it and it has worn the paint off on my fenders where it overlaps the hood. Don't know who put it on or anything like that as it came on the car when I bought it last December. All I know is that when I get my car repainted and other hood on I will NOT be reusing the deflector.

Did the bug deflector have the rubber stoppers in place above the fenders? There are rubber parts (clear adhesive stoppers) that are used to stop the bug deflector from scraping the fenders when the car is traveling at high speed.

I doubled up on those protectors, dual layered them and have had no problems.
