The 2.5x sports really gets my attention. I know it's not turboed... I still think it's great. (Plus lots of room)
What do you all think? 2.5x sports or xt for you? (New 2008 model, 2.5x sports version has different bumper and grille, xt sports has different bumper WITH a front lip and grille)

The XT sport that was at WBM was hawt. My GF wants one, bad. I think they're pretty cool, the body is a bit tall for my liking, but it's still a pretty neat car.

Shit, the 2.5xt in WRB is seriously hot looking. Why they've decided to do this to the Forester and NOT the Legacy yet is a mystery.

I like them a lot, only thing that would bother me is how high you sit, I don't like the feeling of being higher off the ground.

They've been making aggressive touring and sports versions of Legacy wagons in Japan for a while now. It's a shame they don't bring 'em over here, but I guess the market's all over that kind of stuff there.
What initially got me INTERESTED in Subaru was the fact that a turbocharged station wagon could actually be competitive enough to hang with some sports cars (*in Gran Turismo for the Playstation, but still, there's enough wiggle room there to make it a good argument in real life). I know (at least for know) that I want to make my next car a wagon (either a Legacy wagon or a Subaru Forester sports model).

I have a very strong chance of getting an 08 Sports XT for a college graduation present.
The catch is, I would have to sell my XT and 79. I would get to keep my Legacy, but I'd have to sell the EA cars.
The 08's are gonna come with an STi-style front lip and 10-spoke STi wheels. It looks f'ing amazing.

As long as I get a wagon in the immediate future, I won't care if I get my wife's outback (when she trades in the lgt for a prius) or if I get a Fxt sports brand new. (Even the '04 Foresters are nice.)
I do know my next car is going to be a wagon for one simple word: LIFTGATE. Even though I acted like I didn't like it, I really enjoyed having a wagon growing up - lots of room and a big trunk.
If I get the wagon, I would like to stiffen up the suspension (maybe even drop it so it is a little more aggressive), and then I would repaint. If I get a Forester, it's either going to be a used '04, or a Forester X Sports. (If it's the FX, I am going to be SERIOUSLY tempted to do a drop.)
...by the way, CONGRATULATIONS! I hope you get an FXT for your graduation present. Ya, it's gonna suck that you'll have to sell two vehicles that you've basically put personal time into (and I'm sure you'll miss them, even slightly), but there's not much in this world quite like B-R-A-N-D N-E-W.

Hehe, don't hand out the congrats just yet.
1) I have to get rid of both EA cars. The XT won't be that bad, just needs some shocks, new battery and alternator, and some other little stuff. The 79, however, currently sits in my garage with no engine or transmission in it. I have to get it running and driveable to sell it, and when you work full-time AND go to school full-time, it's hard to find the time to work on it.
2) I have to graduate. :-(
I will DEFINITELY miss the EA cars. I feel like a traitor for even thinking about doing this. But it's part of growing up unfortunately. I'm about to graduate college, I have a girlfriend that I am perfectly ready to spend the rest of my life with, and we need to start planning for the future, and having two old-ass Subarus that need work, time, and $$$ to keep running is only going to hold me back.
Still, thank you!

There's been talk of a Forester STi package arriving the year after next

I like them both, those would be my choices too. Though the base Outback is only a tad more, and it has a bit more room. I like the Forester XT though - the price of the Outback XT has climbed way high relative to the Forester lately.

Went to Welsh Subaru in Limerick PA last week and got to sit in one of the XT models. It's n-i-c-e in there. If I had the money it would be XT all the way.
