Hi all,
I've been looking at double adjustable(separate rebound and compression/bump) coilover suspensions for my 95 L Wagon, but have not found much for the Legacy. I have found plenty for less than $2k for the Impreza, however. How much of the suspension design, as far as struts, springs, and mounting points, carry over from the Impreza? Which years will fit? The below suspensions are made for every year and model Impreza.
One of the suspensions I am seriously considering is Racecomp Engineering's Tarmac 2 suspension:Link (http://www.racecompengineering.com/item.asp?subcategory=Coilovers%2C+Struts%2C+and+Shocks). The RCE Tarmac 2's are only available for "IMPREZA, EVERY YEAR AND MODEL"
The other is the only system I have found for the BD/BG Legacy(incl. Wagon), the KW Variant SuspensionLink (http://www.kw-suspension.com/en/30_Products/20_KW_Coilovers/40_Application_List/index.php?modell_1=Legacy&level=3&hersteller_1=SUBARU&gruppe=all&zeile=3)
The KW will fit my car, but will the Racecomp? They are about $300 different in price(MSRP), which could be a set of camber plates. I can also get the KW Variant 3 suspension for the WRXs. The spring rates for the KW aren't so high(Front=340 / Rear=230), and Racecomp doesn't quote theirs(have emailed them). Will simply replacing the springs change the spring rate? Will this have an adverse effect on the damper/damper rates?
Since I am doing this upgrade for auto-x, I'd like a more racing-focused suspension. I'm not worried about ride comfort; I'd rather have the performance advantage.
Thanks a lot for the help, and sorry for the long winded, verbose post!
