Update 10/15/07

Detailed the car this weekend and got ride of all the swirls/scratches I could.

Still have lots of deep scratches, but they'll require wet sanding to fix. previous owners weren't too kind to this thing, but it looks so much better now.

(sorry lighting and pics are sub par)

Yes, that is a shot of my hood. Not a picture of me looking in a mirror reflecting myself, the camera, and the ceiling of my garage. It is that shiny!

Hi-Temp Heavy Cut polish applied using a Ultimate Detailing Machine with Sonus SwirlBuster pad
Ultima Paint Prep Plus applied using a Porter Cable Orbital with Sonus Swirlbuster pad

Now for the rain to go away so I can try and finally get some good shots of this car. It's been raining since Friday night and expected to last a full 7 days before it subsides. :(

Just picked it up this week. It's my new DD and hopeful project car. It's a '98 LGT 5 speed

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/

Current Mod List:
- airbox hack w/ K&N filter
- Freshened and Ported Heads
- STi cat-back
- WRX brakes front/rear
- KYB GR2's
- 20% window tint
- blacked out front grille w/ gray badge

Future:
- coilovers or maybe just springs to get the stance right
- wheels something in gold ('04 STi BBS' would be perfect)
- header... borla or obx uel would suffice. STi mufflers sound bad with el headers

This is my 8th Subaru... I'm new to SL-i.net and glad to have found this place for BD/BG knowledge.

Welcome. A great canvas to start with. I like the wheels on the car.

Welcome to the forums, I've seen both your rides on Nasioc... very nice!

If you already ordered KYB GR-2's I'd strongly suggest H&R sport springs or Whiteline Control springs.

Enjoy SL-i!

I love my PC. It goes along way to making paint come back to life. I guess I am going to have to get off my butt and start doing the wagon

how do you like the UDM? I passed on it as it just didn't seem to be worth the purchase between my pc and rotary. I have never known anyone to use the cyclo, udm, and pc like that. the results speak for themselves so I am not knocking you thread at all. It just seems like you could have used any of the three machines to do all three steps.

also how do you like the ultima products? I have used the Sonus line off and on for years and have been quite pleased but have not stepped up to try their new line yet.

I don't have or use a rotary. I like the UDM a lot and cyclo is very nice. My friend Scott is the one who owns those machines and a PC. I typically only use my PC. Sometimes more power than a PC is needed and that is where the UDM and Cyclo fit in.

I have always liked and used Sonus products... I've been quite impressed with the ultima stuff so far as well. Especially the sealant. Lucky for my my friend is a mod on autopia, so he gets to try products from time to time.

never really heard of Sonus products but it looks like they do a good job. I looked at getting the ultimate detailing machine too. From what i've seen they both do a great job if you know how to use them right.

if anyone wants any really really good info on detailing, checkout this site.

oh ok, I would purchase the UDM myself if I didn't have the PC. I have heard good things about the Cyclo as well. Both do seem to do a good job, but personally I can't justify purchaings all those goodies unless I was making money detailing, but its cool. Like I said I am not knocking either the job or the product. Personally if I can't get it done with the PC w/ 4in pad then a rotary is necessary anyways - but I hardly ever put the rotary on the paint - once you get it good - a decent polish and PC can keep it looking good.

Sonus is good stuff, but I didn't really use that much from them on my car. Just their pads

my friend details cars on the side. Hence he has all three as he makes money.

I wouldn't have anything but my PC if it wasn't for him.
