I'm wondering if anybody who has a 2.5 phase 1 engine would be interested in a group buy.

Please don't vote yes like our intake manifold spacer gasket GB and not order a set. thank you

I said yes, but as always with most group buys, price plays a role. Group A has some that are 85 bucks, so if we can beat that, it'd be nice.

Depends on price, and if I have a phase 1 motor. (00 LGT)

You have a phase II motor, Mr. Fucious.

From everything I've read, the only difference when it comes to getting the right TBS, is between drive by wire, and cable type. If you've got a cable type, it won't matter the phase or displacement.

I'm looking for people that would be 100% regardless of price. It would obviously be the same as theres or less. I', trying to get Groupe A or another to start tooling. They don't look like the same shape as the phase 1 TB. I'm more worried if the bolt holes will line up, and if so if the intake hole will line up as well.

Can somebody take pics of their TB and TB cables? I need to send them pics. I'm in talks with one of the guys over there about getting this made. He may even think it will fit. The one they have mad already that is.

If we have 6 people interested he will take off $10 the original price. Also will offer low shipping costs.

I voted yes; what $100? It costs $85 new  FWIW, I bought a Phase II 2.5RS throttlebody and it's exactly the same as the TB on my BE.

See if any of these pics will help: I can take more if need be

Thats because your BE is a Phase II as well.

shit i accidentally voted yes before realizing that this wasn't for all legacy engines. Subtract 1 vote. Sorry

I think the TB is the same dave. Take some pics and post them up in here.

Ben that was $10, and the BE has a phase 2, we are trying to get them made for a phase 1 2.5.

It's been dyno proven on the dodge forums that a TB Spacer does nothing. The concept comes from carbed motors in which the turbulence and extra length of air travel served for better fuel atomization, in turn making more power. The fuel in a fuel injected sytem is atomized much further down the intake by the fuel injectors themselves.

Not trying to piss in anyone's cereal or anything, but seriously.

I think I posted this in another topic we had a few weeks ago, but a quote from Group A's classified ad on rs25.com... "We confirmed fitment for all model years up to and including 04 (all engines incl. Legacy)" So I don't think you need to have a new type designed and built, as it already exists, just labeled as phase 2. People in that classified listing were stating that it even fits on 1994 1.8 engines, so I would assume it would work for a phase 1 2.5. The only difference i've come up with is the cable bracket, which might differ but is really just a bent peice of 1/8inch aluminum. All the throttle body sizes are the same, along with bolt holes, shapes, etc, on N/A subies, up to 2004.

You are correct.

The piece should fit.

The fun part is the throttle cable holder.

We feel that the piece that we include with our kit "should" work with most of the throttle holders.... the only one it doesn't fit without modification was the plastic manifold of the 04. (The spacer does fit though)

If it's made for 1995-1999 Subarus i'm pretty sure it will fit any subaru TB...from ej18-ej25 reguardless of phase one or two.

Hell, it might even fit 1st gens.

Can someone with a phase 1 2.5 take pics of the throttle cable where it connects to the TB itself?

I didn't ignore you. I silently agreed. The throttle body spacers don't really do much for FI vehicles except maybe help with air turbulence.

However, on a dyno, they do relatively little, and only at certain RPMs. Pat olsen did it on a modified and a stock engine and the gains were minimal even on the modified engine.

I will be driving to CT a lot doing dyno runs. I took what you said in consideration, but I like to know myself.

There are not a lot of HP gains... that is true. But what it does to the torque curve is a different story.

We have before and after dyno charts on our site at www.groupa.ca (http://www.groupa.ca) we had a local dyno place do a before and after with the TBS and the results speak for themselves. Not a lot of HP gain... but the torque curve in various RPMs increased.

This is the "butt dyno" result that you can actually feel when using the product.

The other major benefit on the Subaru is fuel economy. Many customers report a 50KM to a tank increase when using the spacer.

Thanks

Derek

I'm really not trying to be an ass, but that's almost exactly what powedyne (I believe that was the company) told the dodge guys about their TBS, dispite them having their own dyno graphs and mileage numbers proving that it did nothing. And I thought the butt dyno was mental?

Edit: and I don't see how a TBS that is smooth can increase turbulance. The air still has to flow down the intake runners before ever having fuel added to it.

GroupA

We never said anything about the TBS adding turbulance.

If you are confusing our product with another that claims turbulence because they put a swirly pattern in it then that is a different product.

We experiemented with patterns and rough vs. smooth etc and proved in our labs that it is useless to do that to the design.

It also doesn't create a proper flow of air because the diameter of the spacer is different to account for the swirls it actually causes restrictions.... we have our opinion on that product but we are not here to pick on other people's products... that isn't fair.

I said no because I already have one

Was there a big difference in power? No... but I did notice a difference. A slightly more solid feel when pushing the gas pedal and highway on ramps are a little more fun now.

I am one of the ones who has reported an increase in fuel economy. I have seen ~5-10% increase in fuel effeciency depending on the trip I am taking. I used to average ~550km from full tank to gas light (50-55 ish litres fuel) and now I am hitting 570/580km on a regular basis without trying. My last tank of gas went 610.7 km before the fuel light came on (that tank was about 80% highway driving). I had never seen 600km to a tank in the whole year & 3 months I've owned the car before that. That's reaching my old Sunfire's mileage territory (except for the +10L size of the Leggy's fuel tank :-P ) I've also not changed my driving style at all - if anything its more "spirited" as the car is more fun.

I also have a lightweight pulley installed. Whether that has anything to do with the feel or better fuel mileage I don't know, but its something you should know before making any judgements.

I'm only sharing this information as my personal experience with the product. I'm in no way promising, predicting or guarenteeing any results or to which degree you may see/experience them. I know that my motor is healthy, I imagine that the results may not be as pronounced on one which has not been properly maintained.
