So I"m not quite sure how long its been leaking, it could have been doing this for months now. The other day after I get home from work and park the car, I smell a burning scent. Not that usual oil on the exhaust smell, but something different. I kneeled down and it appears I'm leaking tranny fluid. I have no idea exactly where. All I know is where the transmission meets driveshaft, it appears to be leaking. Is it some sort of O-ring up there? I put it up on the ramps to get a better look, and the heat shield was blocking my view. I couldn't really get a great peak at the exact spot of the leak. All I know is the transmission and the pan aren't leaking, its coming from farther back.
Almost certain I'm going to have to bring it to the garage soon, and I dread doing that. My mechanic is great, but he always hesitates and gives me the "you know, this car has 216,000 miles" speech. I don't mind dishing out a few hundred bucks to keep the car going, because I'm sorry, but finding a completely operational 95-96 LSi for less than $2,000 is nearly and probably impossible.

Not that far down, its at the rear of the transmission and the beginning of the driveshaft. It looks like there is some sort of gasket or O ring where its soiled of tranny fluid. If it weren't raining I'd get a picture of the general area.
I found the spot in the Service manual, in the red circle is where its coming from I believe.

have you checked your fluid levels?
It could well be blow-back from something else.

this is exactly my problem also. out of nowhere it started leaking....
im assuming i can just drop the exhausr, exhaust shield then the driveshaft and replace this seal? ive lost quite a bit of fluid from this seal. any idea where i can get a cheap one?
