yo finally i was able to straight out my email problem and finally can make a post, the name is john and i have a 97 subaru legacy 2.5gt manny, so far all i have is ngk plug wires cause i got them for free, but other than that i havent done any mods to my car cause i want to turbo it and there is no sense in putting in an exhaust if im just going to take it out when i turbo the thing. but i dont know where to go for a turbo setup, I NEED HELP i have so many questions, like do i need to get 2.0 pistons or will the 2.5 ones have a low enough compression so i wont grenade the motor, and what turbo is good for a street/ not often track car, and what clutch should i go for to make just i dont crush my stock one, and where do i find a performance clutch for this thing parts for this car are so hard to come by and where can i re-flash the ecu for the fuel curve it will need for the turbo, where can i find high enough injectors for the thing,PLEASE HELP

Anyone will tell you that you are better off swapping it. Boosted your 2.5 is as pointless as putting 26" dope rims on a Hummer.

That engine can't handle much boost. And with all the money you will spend piecing a turbo set up for the results may not be worth it.

But if you still want to go for it I'll let someone else tell you what you need to do because it's a waste of time.

first off welcome to the boards

secondly just to reiterate what has been said above. It will be far far more reliable for you as a street car to swap a factory turbocharged motor into your vehicle. The motors that came in your vehicle are dicey bone stock with headgaskets. Boost will multiply that issue 10 fold. It may be cheaper for you on paper to piece a cheap kit together but that if false economy.

If you went the route of turbocharging your existing motor with the stock bottom end, your limited to a small amout of boost, say 5-7ish lbs max from what I have read. This would be using stock fuel system with some sort of rudimentory fueling control (FPR at worst, possibly a AFC device). This still requires all the physical hardware to plumb the turbocharging system: turbo, uppipe, manifolds, downpipe, i/c, i/c piping, oil lines, coolant lines, and associated vacuum lines, ect ect. That is just to get the thing pumping pressurized air. Any cheaping out you do to make this cheap will compromise the longevity of your short block. Especially compromises in fuel control for tuning.

CLIFF NOTES: do a swap, the cost of properly setting up a well running DIY kit will be more expensive. I can go into FAR FAR more detail why if you would like

Punctuation FTW.
Your post reads like a little kid desperately trying to find the potty.

Read the sticky threads in the Tech section under swaps, that will give you all the information you need. And take some time reading it. ;)

It seems like sharky knows how I work

Mr KFC we have sticky threads about this same subject. Excuse me for being blunt but these stickies are up so we don't have to answer the same question over and over again. None of us don't mind helping fellow enthusiasts. Shit if that were the case none of us would be here.

Take some time, doing some reading on here. If you still have questions shoot away. You may get a few smart ass remarks, but one of our members will come through. Welcome to the dog pound.
