I just bought a set of SOHC phase 2 (for future ignition upgrade) wow these are better than I thought. These are well put together, best money I spent on wires!!

Are they the same as the ones I bought? Because I don't think mine are long enough to fit the DOHC blocks, even though Rallitek advertise them for 93-01 Impreza RS...

How long are yours?

I have 19.5" and 22.5", that would suck if the don't fit. The SOHC plugs go above the valver cover or in the middle like the DOHC 2.5?

I haven't measured but I did a visual check placing the new wires over the top of the old ones - the short wires seemed too short to make it into the block.

The SOHC is PHYSICALLY smaller in width than the DOHC - that's why 2.2L and later SOHC owners don't have to remove so much from the engine bay to change their plugs...

Maybe I'll get lucky. My old Nology wires were about 1"-2' too long so maybe these will be right on. :-?

The plugs are located differently, too. At least on all the SOHC engines I've worked on, the plugs are up on the top of the head near the intake, instead of in the side of the head through the cam cover between the cams like the DOHC.

I'm sorry to say that I dont think it will work. A SOHC wire is different then a DOHC one.

Ok, so the Rallitek wires will NOT fit on a EJ25 DOHC.

" have looked in to your situation a little and the wires you ordered will not fit on a dual cam motor. "

They've just upgraded their email systems so are a little slow right now to respond, but they have sent me a return authorization and will reimburse me for the shipping back to them.

I'm pretty bummed out because these are FANTASTIC construction and so well made.

They'll fit the 99+ RS EJ25 SOHC and I would assume the 2000-04 Legacy.

Yea I know, the boots that connect to the SOHC coil pack is what I need though. I just need the boots that fit in a DOHC head. I plan on making my own wires but need the pieces to do it.

Actually, you don't need to make your own wires.

The 97.05 - 99 Legacy uses the newer-style coil along with the DOHC engine, so you can order the wires pre-made.

STI (Spark Transfer International) part 660 are what you need, you can get a set from http://www.olyonline.com/ for $54.

I've been running a set of their 654 ('regular' DOHC) wires on the legacy and a set of 673 (SOHC) on the impreza, no complaints!

What's the difference between their 660 set and Subaru OEM ones? The price is near identical. I only go aftermarket if the price is cheaper or the quality is better than OEM.

Nice call Dan, then looks like I will be going that route.

The STI wires are a larger diameter than the stockers IIRC, I do recall being impressed by the quality.

You can find photos of the 2 sets I have currently here:

http://photos.phpwerx.net/cars/Legacy/2 ... lug_Wires/ (http://photos.phpwerx.net/cars/Legacy/2006-09-20_Plug_Wires/)

Pics of the 660 are on page 69 of their pdf catalog, you can see that they are what you need for the MSD coil upgrade on the DOHC.

That's the wrong coil pack. And those wires were on my SS and I thought they were garbage. The Bosch OEM wires are better than those.
