Just wondering if the calipers pictured below would be a simple bolt on swap. The calipers are from a 2001 B4 RSK and was wondering if they would fit a 2001 Legacy GT without any mods. I'm in the process of acquiring rims exactly like those pictured. Any comments? Price of these calipers? How difficult are they to acquire?
Cheers

They'll fit - you might need the caliper brackets, and of course the rotors etc.
Those brakes are the same as the USDM 4-pot setup, as found on the 05/06 WRX TR. They'll also fit under 16x7 wheels.
Price for the front calipers is around US$600-700 for a used set. $1000 new.
You will probably want to buy the H6 rear upgrade, which is the same brakes as the 2005 Legacy GT. IIRC.

Thanks for info, will look into what an H6 rear upgrade is all about.

Depends on which caliper you want; they only differ in color and whether the "SUBARU" is embossed or decaled onto the caliper face. The going price is around $500 used, $600 for a new front set. $1000 will get you both the 4pot front calipers and the 2 pot rear calipers (need aftermarket adapters to make them work though).
H6 rear brakes = what BE legacy's have. The 05 LGT's went one step up and went with a vented rotor.

I have the US WRX 06-07 version on the front.

Where would one acquire these calipers (new) and the aftermarket adapters. So basically all I need are the calipers and the adapters and I could just take my car to the dealer and get'em to install them, sounds pretty simple. (I don't do my own brakes, I don't trust myself).

I had good luck using these guys. The adaptor brackets can be ordered from Kartboy for $200 or so.
To answer your question, yes they're bolt on. 2 bolts to mount the caliper and 1 bolt to take off the line. The rear is only had a couple of more bolts to secure the caliper to the adapter, and the adapter to the car.
I would suggest an independent shop to do this; dealerships are overpriced for what they do for the most part.

Those look like they would fit 15" wheels. =\ Diameter of the rotors?
They look nice though. A smaller rotor + 4 pot > larger rotor +2 pot...
Ooh, gonna email them to see if I can get Calipers + brackets + pads, I already have rotors. :D

smaller rotor + 4 pot > larger rotor +2 pot...
for pedal feel - yes
for brake balance - yes
for ultimate stopping power - no
for fade resistance - no
I personally would never go for the smaller rotor just to get 4 pots, but I track the car so .....
balance is fixed with larger rear brakes and pad selection, and feel with pads, fluid, lines, and in the future m/c brace
now stiff opposed piston caliper + larger rotor = yes on all accounts, but I am sticking with 16in wheels so most BBKs are not an option. I will upgrade to TCE LBK at some point when my current setup just doesn't cut it

They're WRX rotors, so they're probably bigger, or the same size as what any Legacy has right now. They look smaller due to the lighter one-piece caliper. They can be fit under some 15" rims; namely ones used for rally. They'll fit a lot of 16" rims, most notably RS 7" width rims, hence my reason to run them vs. the LGT front brakes that I also have, since I loose a lot of wheel selection with the bigger rotors.
The 4 pots are the ones used by Subaru Group N rally cars for years.

I am very familiar with the specs of the 4pot setup, I was just responding to the statement 4pot-small rotor > 2pot-large rotor. Its just not true in alot of ways. Now rotor size being equal - then yeah I am all on board with it
Sarra could have had LGT setup for all I know, in which case if you abuse brakes, 4pots would be a downgrade IMHO - but its cool I can see where my post could be misleading

No go - can't fit 15" wheels, not enough space. 16x7 ET53 at a minimum.

^^ not true, there are some 15in rally wheels they will fit under

Sure, rally wheels. Those usually cost a lot more than a regular set of RS wheels - can be had for as little as $300 used, nowadays.

Hmmm, not really, a new set of Team Dynamic Rally 1's or Enkei's (forgot what they call them) 15x7 will run about $1000 give or take; not that much more for a set of rota's. I've seen ok looking procomps (rally wheels, not really meant to be kept in pristine cosmetic condition :D) sell for around $350 used.
It's really the gravel tires that will probably set you back; they cost as much as medium/high end 17" tires.

I've seen a set of Rota Boosts for $675 shipped, 17x8 I believe..

Most rota's sell for around $700-800 range...if you think about it for a speciality wheel like those rally 1's that a good price. A local distributor in Detroit just put the rally 1's for $200/wheel, for example.
Plus we're talking about something that isn't made with cheap labor from China (let's be honest here why Rota's cost a lot less, labor and knockoff designs). Not saying that Rota's are bad (I have wheels from both manufacturers and they both perform well), but they do have to take the cost out somewhere.
Anyway, I only mentioned the Rota's to get some perspective; 17" rotas and 15" TD's are on different ends of the usage spectrum. No one directly compares the two when they're picking out a particular set of rims.
A set of rally wheels are not prohibitively expensive as you were implying.

I don't care about ultimate stopping power, I care about fade resistance. I'd take an STi big brake kit over anything else (as in, upgraded brakes beyond STi stock brembos). I'll bet that I could still melt pads and heat up rotors until they glow on my favorite night driving road, though.

well if you care about fade resistance, rotor mass and cooling are your main priorities - if you have WRX sized rotors already then 4 pots will not do you much better for fade resistance. they will be an upgrade in feel and balance but will not contribute to thermal management
for your needs then LGT > 4pot WRX in the $700 price range. Obviously as the price range increases then your options increase as well.

I do find it ironic that the LGT front brakes cost less than a 4pot setup...like almost half the price.

no kidding, budget OEM BBK FTW
its like my brother's CD5 - Legend 2pots and over an inch bigger rotors and it only cost like $250 for the upgrade. You just can't beat that kinda budget performance.
Two things keep me from going to LGT front setup - the weight as those rotors are heavy (maybe someone will make a 2 piece rotor) and I refuse to move back up from 16 in wheels again.

iON Performance does make make em but they cost as much as a pair of 4 pot calipers

2 piece rotors are really expensive that is for sure. I may pick up set of DBA 5000s for the bugeye next but its hard to convince the wife a set of $500 rotors is a good purchase next to some $100 brembo blanks
